I'm not really into anything with 'step' in the name so I cannot comment on what those folks use, but honestly I would just trust your ears rather than ask what others are doing. You're more likely to bring something new and fresh to the table that way.

It baffles me why anyone wants to make genre specific music unless they work in media....oh that's right its for kudos or cash isn't it both of which have limited artistic merit.

Well it's got to include plenty of SNARES but try not to get CAUGHT up in the details.

    Just go with the flow...:)

    I'll get me coat.

    Maybe that's a good idea.

1 Maschine. 2 Buttons. One says Dubstep. One says Electro. 2 Knobs, both 0-100%. That's all your basic food groups covered.
    ---
Or 1 knob that goes from Chill to Bro!

Expansion wise, Platinum Bounce has dirty south type kits, and Drop Squad has aggressive brostep kits.

Couldn't agree more. That's what David Guetta uses.

Get some powerful dance drums with sub drops for the more "trap" style drum parts. Glitchy stabs are always a plus.
