Wouldn't it be great if the Maschine hardware didn't just sit there looking sorry for itself when the Komplete Kontrol plugin is loaded?

I'd love to be able to have Maschine light up and be useful when running Komplete Kontrol. You could use the knobs, the screens, the transport controls, and be able to browse for a KK preset using the Machine hardware in addition to the keyboard and the computer.

Seems like a waste not to use it?

I assume you are talking about using your keyboard to control Maschine. The Mk2 keyboards are all about that integration of the keyboards with both the KK and Maschine software. See the link in my signature below for an article I wrote on what the key combos are for Maschine 2 from the Mk1 keyboards. You can have Komplete Kontrol and Maschine running at the same time - standalone or in a DAW - and switch between them.

Actually no, the other way around.

When I'm running Komplete Kontrol standalone, or in Logic etc., my Maschine Studio just sits there looking useless, when it could be put to use as another surface on which to browse presets (the browser on my S88 is very poor compared to the browser on Maschine Studio or KK Mk2), another set of transport controls, another set of knobs (even if they just replicate the functionality of the knobs on the S88) etc.

It seems like a wasted opportunity - now that Komplete Kontrol can control Maschine, wouldn't it be great if Maschine could control Komplete?

Ah, I think I understand you now - you mean have your Maschine Studio able to select sounds for your keyboard to play.

Sorry - misunderstood there! Still, I hope the keyboard mappings article I put together is handy for you to have available, even if it is for the "wrong direction"! :)

Actually, yes, it's very useful thank you! Lots of controls there I didn't previously know were available, so thank you very much for taking the time to put that together :)

Now I just need NI to allow Maschine to control Komplete and for the Maschine software to support aftertouch, and I'll be a degree happier :)

my equipment is similar: Logic Pro X, KK S61 MK1, Maschine Studio and Maschine Jam.
I would like to read your article but cannot find the link in your signature.

Have you somehow reported this to the NI? I think it is very good point and should be added.

It would seem to me that with the MK3 and the KK S49 or up the workflows are starting to get closer. Probably not a bad idea to merge the two into a single suite. It would make using any of the pieces in any combination work seamlessly. Why even bother with two apps?

Well until NI address the lack of aftertouch support in Maschine that's not desirable for keyboard players.
