There's not really a secret trick or anything its basically the same as making beats on anything else, the best thing is having insant access to effects and everything. First make sure the samples you get are as dope sounding as possible from the beginning and then add some eq, maybe a hint of lofi to the group (if you work that way), you can add a maximizer (not too harsh) on a master bus when you have a foundation to cream it up a little and see what it sounds like with it on, make adjustments along the way. I guess the only way is the "hard" way, make lots of beats, train your ears, try to mimic soundscapes of beats you think sound dope!

On some beats I used a VST plugin called Sonitex to recreate the sound of old 12 bit samplers. I know Native Instruments are working on something similar for Maschine, but you can try the lofi effect in Maschine. Don't overdo it! Another thing I do is add the EQ to the Master and raise the high freq just a little to freshen up the sound. And finally I use a mastering limiter to boost the volume.

Do you guys know that been there done that feeling when you're making beats? I need some new material to sample from! Something different than smooth Jazz sounds. Any suggestions for seventies Funk/Rock bands for a slightly rawer sound?

This is why I need new material to sample from:

    http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8621070

Because sampling from the same material (again Lonnie Liston Smith, hence the title Summer's Over Again) often leads to the same kind of beats.

I'll probably re-use the drums for a new beat.

Not as good as the Buckwild remix, but I like it better than the original.

does anybody use Recycle anymore? I'm sick and tired of the internal sampler and since I am a student without a job funds a tad tight and I love the flow of Recycle. is maschine even compatible with Maschine if not any good recommendations for software samplers would be appreciated
