the redo is crazy i love the crazy feel of it makes me want to toke up ahaha i love it!
like i redid the beat that i kinda got known for which was "I Forgot...", i took off the effects except for the bass disto but i toned it WAYYY down, and the maximizer and compression of the high hats (only way they would be heard) and i toned the levels way down so theres no overall distortion

Same here, I'm always having difficulties creating a bass that sounds warm and nice.

I heard some are creating bass using a sample and a bunch of filters.

    Explanation is needed. Badly. ;)

Edit: Great songs btw! Love the second one, sounds like the time nobody was bitching about Hip Hop ...

A bass slide is simple. Load a bass sound (a long single note). Set the voice setting MONO to ON. Adjust the GLIDE. Select KEYBOARD mode. Play the first note and hold it down while you play the next note. You'll hear that it will glide from the first note to the next.

    True. ;)

I can't imagine making beats without using low or high pass filters. I always use a low pass filter on bass sounds. That way you can make it sound smoother if needed.

very nice Lotuz, I like em both

Its almost like a bass line can make or break a song, gotta find the right one that fits and def. you picked the right one on these.

I need to working on basslines and get to your level. Keep at it BIG L

if you choose filter as an effect u can choose between lo , high , ect. pass and filter out certain frequencies.....
there is another filter on every sound in sound srcs , but its not as strong as the effect.
your beats get much more enjoyable without all that clipping , like the horns on that one ...
@ tac office , im trying hard to get on his level for months now :( , but they dont call him big L for nothing :D

I dont mess with the effects at all really :S

@ Pawcut and Lotuz would both of you or either one of you mind uploading a track with these different effects added and then the same track 'without' effects so i can get a better understanding of the difference and why you use them?

I know I need work, but if i can learn effects then its another lesson learned thanks to this thread :D

The sound of the bass is more important to me than the bassline itself, because I chop the bassline, re-pitch the single notes if needed, and then play my own bassline.

That's the filter I use most though. It's easy and it does what I want it to do just fine.

There are too many producers to name, but here are a few that had a major influence on me when I started making beats back in the nineties: DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Havoc, Beatminerz, DITC (Showbiz, Diamond D, Buckwild), Beatnuts.
