rza , dilla ,premo, doom ,madlib plus ,plus plus .....
since jaylib's "champion sound" i have to admit, dilla is that dude for me again , like in this one (one of my faves) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceJJpuREXm0"]YouTube- Slum Village - Players Instrumental[/ame]
    sampled from
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TnZ8nasxg8"]YouTube- Clair - Singers Unlimited[/ame]

how he even puts the words in a different context and makes things sound so smooth and raw at the same time with so unpretentious and easy resources always leaves me speechless and humble...

@tac office next track i'll upload a dry and a wet version ....

Ugh...Basslines. Something I haven't yet mastered. I'm almost hesitant to post these 2 tracks that I made this weekend because of all this bassline talk. But, you need to crack a few eggs to make an omelet, right?

    Here they are:
    Spanich Geetar

    and
    Private Enemy

Can't wait to hear the constructive feedback that this forum is known for.
    ---
I like it. It sounds very 90's...which is always a good thing. I would like to hear a bit more of a punch in those kicks personally. But I'm not one to talk...I leave my tracks bass free sometimes too :D I really like the way you chopped up the sample towards the end.

    nekkron99 ...keep at man!

I like the 2nd one more (private enemy)

as for criticism, I would say maybe work on the first track, Im not the one to tell you what to do, but as far as the 2nd one, keep it, and keep making beats.

youll get more feedback im sure from the veterans ;)

    Groove Quantize

    Hi All,

I posted this as a general question in the forum but I wanted to mention it hear also.

Did anyone hear of groove quantize being considered as a feature for a future update. Like being able to select from a pool of groove templates (MPC, SP, etc). And also the ability to extract a groove template from an audio loop.

This would be so killer and I think make Maschine just completely untouchable as a beat maker.

    Best,

    Joey

Spanich Geetar makes me think of mid nineties Westcoast Hip Hop because of the bass sound.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxnBNY7fW78"]YouTube- MC Ren "Mad Scientist"[/ame]

    Turn up that bass!

I don't like the synth. And I'd choose a different snare and EQ the bassdrum, because they sound too thin. In other words they lack punch.

I like Private Enemy better, but it's still a bit too weird for me to enjoy.

    ok senores ,
(as requested) here are two uploads of the same little part of an barbara acklin sampling beat im working on atm.
i exported the current phase of my work first and then saved a second version enabling all the effects on the track .
there was a limiter and an eq on the master (lotuz style see prev. posts ), maximizer on the sample group, compresser and reverb on the drum and bass group...
a lp filter on the bass sound, high pass and notch plus a beat delay (on the oooh) on the various sample sounds
the drums were seperatly filtered and eq 'd and compressed with the internal fx and filters on page 3 sound src ...

    note 2 things
    1. i overdid it a lil two make the difference clearer (sample is a lil overmaximized)
2.i'm not the best in building basslines and i don't wanna come over like a dickish teacher,im just starting over with producing on a more serious level myself....
but tac office said he was hardly using effects and im beginning to recognize myself how important they are meantime..

so this is no effects http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8675315 :(

same thing with effects http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8675304 :)

    Nice one, pawcut.

I won't comment on the effects, but you need to timestretch the lower sample though. ;)

Did you know about this early Kanye production when he was No I.D.'s protege?

in a regular track i'ld try to let the effects come over a lil more subtle, wish i could time stretch in maschine,i wanna use it as a stand-alone groovebox...:(
never heard of that one ,the strings sound familiar though;) , now researching on u-tube i discovered the stylistics version.. plus [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LP_fG7BaG8"]YouTube- BEATSOCIETY NYC SAMPLEROUND- SAMPLECHOP RIK MARVEL[/ame]

    "same sample,same sample ..."

looks like mess with the classics man did it again

    very nice example Pawcut...

no wonder im not hearing what i should out of my beats. There is no effects, no color to them at all, I may try and add some effects to the beats already made or just start off from here with each and every new beat i make...

feels like there so much to learn, ...sigh, back to the drawing board

    Thanks Pawcut

when it comes to the early eighties its hard to mention something except the newcleus, fat boys and whodini who bring back teenage memories....
i really love the first biz markie album , big daddy kane, lots of the marley marl productions, imo opinion you can't really count in the end eighties classics like nwa , beasties or run dmc (perhaps run dmc)....thats a new era in my mind....
these days i can't listen to this "everybody say disco" ..."DISCO" ...call and response anymore really, though there are exceptions..

@architect...,16 seconds is quite long , slice it up in single bars,be real exact with the start and end points, set sound to adsr and give it some attack and decay if it sounds to choppily, if the drums still dont fit (not everything in the 70's was recorded a proper 16 grid )but the sample snips run smoothly set grid off and move your drums to the right points....
to make drums fit in first instance i always only set up the snare(u can do that with the closed hi hat too) in a group ,go in sampling mode and move the start point til its sync

@tac office ,ur a weirdo:D ,yes i like this one much more than the previous versions, sounds like a chipmunk rastafari reasoning

I have heard many of the early eighties (old school) classics, but it's not my favorite era.

I'm thinking about doing some more late eighties (new school) style beats. This is the Hip Hop I grew up with, but I usually make nineties style beats. It's fun trying to emulate producers like Ced Gee, Paul C, Marley Marl, and the Bomb Squad. Even with all Maschine's features it isn't easy. You can learn a lot from this.

i'd love to hear some bomb squad style beats u created , get it on

ur familiar with the son of bazerk album , thats my favourite shocklee-production beside the PE-classics...sounds like james brown taking the right direction in the late 80's..
(dont do drugs ,kids ,and if smoke weed no pcp ;) )

I'll try to make a Bomb Squad style beat soon. That's probably the most difficult one, because of all the layers and noise.

And yes, I know Son Of Bazerk. At the time I thought the album was disappointing compared to the single Change The Style. I'll have to check it again to see if I like it better now.
