    Nice. Very jazzy.

Love those chimes and the reverb on that one snare on the drum change up.
    ---
I like this. Sounds very undercover spy to me. Like it would be on a 007 flick somewhere.

please stop using the B word :|

for me there is some nice chopping but maybe too many variations? needs a bass.

out of interest, do you think of your stuff as instrumental, or are you making beats for a rapper? i know when i make stuff, i am not thinking of someone rapping, but maybe i should.

Yes, it needs a bass. And some more sounds to keep it interesting if it's meant as instrumental.

But it shows you're improving your skills and you're still learning. Keep it coming.

Then ask yourself the same question. Do you think of your stuff as instrumental, or are you making beats for a rapper? ;)

    Here is my latest WIP.

    http://soundcloud.com/kenstew/smile-3-1

I really like how it's coming along. There is a variation on the sample I used, that I want to throw in there to add a bit of variety, and I want to to a few change ups on the drums in the first 12 bars of the first section, but I'm digging what's there.

I have yet to add bass to a thing I've made, just because whenever I do, it sounds awful. I still need to work that out.

    Paw,

I dig that coolout beat. It sounds a little Premo-esque. I keep waiting for Guru to start spittin that **** over that beat.

And yeah, I noticed the drums are way loud on my track. It's hard to really notice when I'm listening through my computer speakers, but it was really obvious when I put it on my mp3 player.

@pawcut - I'm loving those tracks, esp organ armageddon and cool out

@johnnybvo - smile is a great track! the drums sound a little loud tho, could just be my headphones.

@Lotuz - dope as ever, also I really appreciate the question you proposed to architect about deciding what your track will be ahead of time. I myself am in the realm of making instrumentals, as I feel I have a bit more freedom in song structure than making something to be rhymed over.

@architect - that last track def needs some bass, the chops seem good but it may benefit you to develop a structure for them, as well as adding in some other sounds and Drum Fills!...and plz chill out on the expletives in this forum, you're only letting the haters know they got to you...as well as making more work for the moderators. Keep doing your thing, keep learning, and stay chill

Here's two of my latest tracks, hope you guys dig 'em...please share some constructive criticism =)

Nice beats, paw. You should take a break more often. ;)

You guys really like that Dracula snare, huh? :p

Cabin Fever is interesting. Vinnie, load the Dracula snare again on another pad and pitch it down -2.00. Now play it syncopated. I like how that sounds. I hope you do too.

I like GnarBangers, but it's too empty imo. It's like an ongoing intro. I keep waiting for the other instruments to come in.

Ain't that the truth. This is the first time I've ever tried making beats, so now I notice I listen to music completely differently now. It's kind of awesome.

Cem, I haven't listened to everything yet, but Reverse is my new ****. I don't really care for the horns too much, but everything else sounds like it came from my favorite era of the Neptunes. I'm not saying you're biting or anything, but it has that sort of flavor about it.

ETA: Add Dream to the list too.

thanks johnnybvo..appreciate the feedcack!..i'm a newcomer myself...really gotta work on the mixing aspect of makin beats but i'm lovin it! maschine makes it way too easy...i finally got a good workflow between maschine and logic...learning new stuff everyday.... btw...i'm not sold on the horns either... undecided if i want anotehr sound there or not....lately i've been leaning toward less is more with beats...
