@ Lotuz Nice beat, I don't think it needs much more. People always try to put so much into the beat because they forget that when vocals are added it fills out the beat more than anything else.

@cemsema....I'm not really diggin it personally. The horns weren't all that great IMO and the drums and that clap were weak. Keep goin though we can all only get better.

    True.

I agree. The other beats on your soundcloud are much better. This one seems to lack emotion. It's time to smurf back to the lab for a re-smurf. ;)

And one more thing. Try a snare instead of a clap sometimes. And if you really want to use claps, then sample your own to make them sound more realistic.

I see lots of people using soundcloud. Is that a good (quick and simple) way of sharing music? Any other places people prefer? I'd like to get some feedback and suggestions on some beats I've been messing around with on Maschine.

Gonna have to teach myself about scenes tomorrow to export the audio so it's a bit longer. If I want 4 bars of scene 1 then 4 bars of scene 2 looping I'd just have to keep duplicating them till it was as long as I want, right? Up to 64 scenes if I wanted I think...

    Thanks in advance.

You can duplicate the scenes, but you can also duplicate one of the patterns in the scene. That will extend the scene.

@Lotuz..ur right man..i've been trying to break out of the claps and keep going back to them...doesn't seem to "Hit" as hard without them to me..even though i know a snare would be cool too..thats a good vid..will try that on the next one....

@cemsema what if you layer the clap over a snare? (I haven't heard the track yet because I'm at work)...but just a thought.

agreed with what said ...and yea maybe the clap over snare might sound good....

...in the Jayz beat youtube vid above he set out the sample to all 16 pads with different velocitie/pitchs i believe...how do we do this with the maschine?

Version 1.5 has the 16 levels for velocity feature (see KEYBOARD/PAD mode).

Sounds better, but there might be other bassdrums in the Maschine library that fit the snare better.

Maybe you've overdone it a little with two hi-hats and a shaker.

@cemsema I know I'm a bit late on this, but I liked the sample for Gargamel. It did have that evil dude vibe. I just think it was used too much in the track. I could see it being good like at every 4 bars or something, or maybe just on the hook. The bass made it feel really muddy though.

I downloaded it this morning before I went to work, but I still have to check it out.

Not bad. I don't like this snare so much. I'm not sure how to say it, but it's a bit too heavy for my taste. And I'd play a different bassline. But I like the main sample and the overall feel of the beat.

Thanks exactly what I was lookin for! By too heavy do you mean the bass? Like too much bass?
