There is a way to launch a snapshot from MIDI -- as seen at the end of this video -- that might be something having a similar function to having a group/scene/pattern. It says you can trigger a snapshot from within a DAW, but I am intrigued to wonder if it could be triggered from a pattern made in Maschine's (or Jam's) sequence editor? (Fumbling around for the manual now...)

I just want to speed it up and be able to use my controller effectively. To be honest if the NI meat and potatoes Maschine enhancements ever come out we have all been screaming for I'm done and happy. The question is how long can my patience stand it for.

It can (by outputting MIDI to a virtual MIDI cable that is then used as the input for triggering Locks via MIDI), but pretty sure you won't find details of how to do it in the manual.

I'd say that step sequencing (melodic in particular) and changing multiple Groups' Patterns at the same time are the main benefits of Jam next to another Maschine controller (in terms of workflow speed). The rest can be done fine with the others and if it's too slow for you, practice and speed up. :p

Well DAW/controller intigration is not good...Unless Ableton it seems.. .Then again Sonar may bring in that Link support.

I agree with this, it really depends on what you need now and where you want to go with it, and where each of the developers wants to take it, and how much faith you have in their visions.
sure live had the touch strip tech and the snapshot tech, and the grid ethos first with push..... but push is also more expensive than the jam.
you may not need the additional functions of push or the higher quality pads. I would lean towards what I was intending to use in conjunction with the controller most i.e. if you're going to be using maschine mostly I'd probably save some money and get the jam. On the other hand if when you use maschine these days you're spending allot of time augmenting it with ableton then the push might make a better choice. I do like the idea of trying out the jam first because it's the cheaper of the two alternatives and seeing if one still requires more, if you still need a push or think it would fit better you'd still have the money you saved and not a long way accrue the funds for a Push.

This is exactly what I'd like to know. I finally got my MK2 out of the closet after the 2.6 release and I'd like to know if the workflow in Logic can be improved.

I think n.i will have to update the plugin to au3 , hopeful this could be good news for maschine/ logic users

is that just a personal speculation, or did you see that somewhere on the Sonar forums?

Somebody posted the request and it did get a response from the devs. "Interesting" I think was the quote from memory.

...as already said, it is possible. The virtual midi driver has to be enabled in Maschine's preferences as an input. The included test project has a group with two lock states changing the group filter settings. These settings are triggereg via program messages from Group B sent out to the virtual midi driver (it's for a PC, but I guess, it'll work the same on a Mac, if you have one). The included pictures will show you how to set it up. I just saw - in the first picture neither midi note nor program change are selected, yet, but In the project file program change is selected. However, Maschine doesn't seem to save the chosen midi output (the virtual driver) of the triggering sound in Group B, so you might have to set it up again...

EDIT: the second time I opened the project, the midi out was remembered. So, everything should work...

Thanks for the heads up. So Logic will allow routing midi out from an AU3 plugin? Any reference of an AU3 plugin that this is working with?

From what I read au3 supports more than 16 midi channels, which could mean we might be able to run just 1 maschine instance

To recap we are getting song layer, audio tracks, idea space (posted by Charles), time stretching etc. This is a tasty list. For jam curious to see if a bigger one comes out. But anyone who has one I would keep it!
