Maschine Jam - Learn Hardware or Software first?

Hello! I'm a noob at everything Maschine! I just received my Maschine Jam today, and I am very excited. Unfortunately, I am a busy student in school, and was just curious about the efficiency of learning both the hardware and software at the same time. Jam has it's own manual, but so does the software.

Does anyone know if it would be more efficient to read the Jam manual first (that may teach me how to use the Maschine software), or learn the software first (via manual), so they it may become more easily and better to understand the hardware? Unless someone had a more efficient way of learning, like video tutorials or some free to inexpensive course online. Not saying I won't be stressed ever. But you know, less stress is better than all the stress. ;)

Just to clarify: I am very familiar with music production in general. I know what I would need to make good sounds, my issue is now utilizing maschine for that matter!

That question might be better asked in a maschine forum dedicated to Jam, I don't know if there is such a place but if not, I would ask the moderator to start one.

both deserve to be learned , personaly i alway print the pages that shows all the hardware commands and short cuts (cheat sheet pdf ie) (also the chords tips for jam); i stick them on the wall and learn the software , maschine program and every thing you can do with your mouse (if no maschine or studio) are usefull for production.cause there is a lot of things jam cannot do if you consider the entire software possibilies

Hey man I was in the same situation about 9 months ago.. I wouldn't worry... they're so intertwined that learning one means learning the other almost automatically. That's the real power of Maschine.. as software, it's a fun but limited mini-DAW.. but combine it with the hardware control and instantly it's a more musical and fun way to work. It's a very easy hardware to learn as well.. everything is laid out logically. Just start messing around and have fun..

    I agree with lwj|localspace!
There's a ton of stuff that cant even be done in the software, so we must learn both at the same time.
Thread moved to main Maschine forum.
