    It seems like all the major online sellers ( Guitar center, Sweetwater, Sam Ash, etc...) are out of stock or not even available. Is it because of Covid 19 or is Native Instruments coming out with a new version? Not trying to start a big debate, but just wanted to buy one.

    Would be great to see some signs of life for Maschine's forgotten cousin. I was considering buying one last year, but:
    • It doesn't have a power button (I'm kinda fed up with USB devices that have to be physically unplugged to turn them off — especially ones with illuminated buttons and pads that are very distracting while trying to do other things).
    • It's unclear whether it has any future. Was it a dud? Is NI planning to just stop updating it? Will it just get more and more out of sync with Maschine as the software evolves? Nobody knows. It already has outdated labels for functions that have been renamed in the software.
    • It's still using NI's previous generation design language. This isn't a big problem — it still looks nice, and I have two other products from that generation (Komplete Kontrol S49 mk1 and Traktor Kontrol S2 mk2) — but looks outdated next to Maschine mk3.

    Can anyone think of how a Jam Mk II could be in any way feasible at a moment in time reasonably or even remotely close to this one???????????? :eek:o_O:confused::D

    I also noticed that Maschine Studio disappeared from the NI website.

    Time for major updates of Maschine... :D
    -> Sequencer, Arranger
    -> Performance Recording
    Maschine JAM could be a great controller in connection with other controllers and a updated software.

    Honestly…no. Maybe in conjunction with a major new version of Maschine (software), but I don’t see that happening anytime soon either.

    I imagine a Jam Mk2 being similar to an Akai Force, to fill in the place of Jam and Maschine Studio in one single controller.

    I oddly never seen anyone say that here before, I too absolutely hate devices without a power button. I've considered adding one myself to the Mikro-Mk3 and M32. I've also considered those USB hubs with a tiny power switch for each port, like this.

    Hard questions bro. :D
    They're too deep into it to abandon it IMO, they changed the software and made a whole new mode (ideas view) to accommodate Jam's layout, Ideas View will never be great on a 4x4 Pad controller it just doesn't make sense so eventually they will have to release the 2nd iteration of Jam.

    It certainly doesn't make sense to me to not have a controller that functions in a similar way to what Jam currently does whatever form it eventually takes, but I just cannot see any way that it could viably be released before Q3 if even this year.

    I dont disagree, just curious: what are you basing the lack o viability on? The assumption that a new Jam would need to be accompanied by a major software update (which won't happen soon)? Or because of the current covid situation?

    id like to see a true companion piece to the Mk III but it seems unlikely - it would need to also work as the ‘only’ controller in order to sell sufficient numbers, which will make the design less likely to work as a companion IMO.. i got rid of the Jam for that reason

    Yeah…I actually found a pretty decent USB hub with individual power buttons recently. I use it for my KeyStep, MicroFreak, Novation LaunchKey Mini mk3, and Korg NTS-1, all of which are bus-powered and don't have a power switch (actually, MicroFreak does have one, but my crowded setup makes it hard to reach, and it's tiny and kinda unpleasant anyway). Works very well. I also used a label maker to label the USB plugs so I know which one is which (they're all black!).

    But I still want companies to stop this silly trend. Charge me the $3 extra for the part (hell, add $10 and keep the change, I don't care) and give me a damn power switch. I could overlook it on the M32, which has one dimly lit display that would never bother me, but anything with a bunch of Christmas lights needs a power button.

    I hope so. Even the current Jam would make a great companion for my mk3, but if they're planning to make a new one at some point, surely they have learned a lot from the first generation, and there are probably other things they'll want to add or change to accomodate new features in the software.

    They should definitely remove the touch strips , maybe have 1 like the mk3 and add a screen

    What do you guys think of a Jam Mikro, that only has the pads and function buttons, with no touch strips? I don't know if it makes sense as a standalone product, but I personally just want the pad grid and doubt I would use the touch strips for anything. They look a bit too easy to trigger accidentally (lol). Maybe I'd change my mind if I actually played with it.

    There ya go. You posted this while I was typing the above. Seems I'm not the only one who doesn't want the touch strips.

    Mainly that the software is so under developed as yet and although it is being worked on we also know it has a long way to go and hasn't even come close to fulfilling the promises of the initial Jam release so many years later.
    If One Native is to be a success then surely it's got to get it's house in order and show it's not just a dire marketing scam but a real attempt to build and consolidate on the good things about NI rather than expnand it's BS quota.

    They do have a tendency to accidentally move , when you reach across them , that’s why I think they should remove or replace them with encoders, or real faders but the layout wouldn’t really suit real faders , I wouldn’t mind a 64 pad in the form of the mk3 , they could add a lot of shift +pad functions, and lose some of the dedicated buttons to the side , like group selection pads , browser , sampling etc
