Maschine Jam Remix Deck Mapping - Turn Button Light Off for Cell that doesn't have a sample loaded

    Hi there
    I am building a mapping for my Maschine Jam to map the remix decks to all 64 Matrix buttons on Page 1. The idea is that I will have 1-16 buttons for each of the four channels for the remix deck (I am doing it for Deck C on Page 1 and Deck D on Page 2 - but that doesn't really matter). For most of the remix sets I have assembled, I will have a sample for each of the 16 cells for each slot (A, B, C, D), but there are some remix sets I may not have a sample loaded. Right now I have each of the 64 matrix buttons setup as follows:
    LED On = Midi In
    Color Mode = Dual
    Color On = White
    Color Off = (Color I am using for that decks slots, in this case Blue for A, Yellow for B, Green for C and Orange for D)

    For each cell in slots A-D I have an I/O In and Out setting, for example the mapping for the top left matrix button:

    I/O = In
    Control = Slot 1 Cell 1 Trigger
    Assignment = Remix Deck C
    Mode = Hold
    Mapped To = Ch01.Note.G#3

    I/O = Out
    Control = Slot 1 Cell 1 State
    Assignment = Remix Deck C
    Mode = Hold
    Mapped To = Ch01.Note.G#3

    With this mapping for each of the 64 matrix buttons, each button is set to the default off color set in the Controller Editor, and turns white when I trigger it to play the sample. All is working good. What I would like to do is have that same behaviour, but only for cells that have a sample loaded in them...for cells that don't have a sample loaded in them I would like them to have no light at all, turn them right off...so that when I am playing I don't inadvertadly press that button (which would stop that slot and the last selected sample from playing)

    I noticed in the modifiers list I can check on the cell state to see if it is empty, loaded, playing or waiting. I've tried to use all of these to see if the light would turn on only when the cell state is Loaded or waiting, but no change.

    By comparison I also have a Traktor S8 controller that is using the default mapping shipped with the product, and when I load an incomplete Remix Set into Deck C and navigate in the display to a cell that doesn't have a sample loaded in it i.e. it is blank, it does exactly what I am looking to do with my Maschine Jam....when no sample is loaded in a cell, the cell LED is completely off and no color is shown.

    Does anyone have any insight on how to accomplish this with a mapping. Thanks in advance! Maschine Jam Mapping.png

    I noticed this post was from a while ago. I'm in the process of mapping my MK3 right now and just went through a similar issue in regards to having a good light display for the hotkeys. Did you manage to get it figured out?

    No I have not unfortunately and haven't played with it much since I initially posted the question.

    I think the easiest way to get it to do what you want is to switch in the controller editor your buttons from dual to indexed. Then, for each button (sorry, this will be a lot) you create an assignment for each colour depending on the state of the cell at the time. for my hotkeys for example, there are four out commands in Traktor for each one, including a nil where the light is off. In the controller editor manual there's a list of all the colours you can output using the indexed option on pages 335-336. Right now with what you want to do, you'd be looking at three out commands for each button, but you could have even more, showing you at a glance whether the slot has a one shot, a loop, or others.

    That’s awesome! Thanks for the input Goose, number of in and outs isn’t a big deal - that’s how controller mapping goes ;)...will give it go

    Hi Odyseuss. I have made a lot of progress with the mapping where all the remix decks have been mapped, tested and are working OK. I changed the approach of the layout to show both remix decks on the same page and using the Arrow pad to navigate down to be able to get to all 16 samples per slot. I want to spend some more time working with effects, etc. on the mapping. Will have to document the mapping and create the export files so I can share with you guys - stay tuned

    Nice work.

    All do with NI Jam you can go everyway depending on your needs.
    But it needs allot of planning.
    And ofcourse find a how you like to work.
    I was checking if it was possible to set tracks to every button for 2 decks wel found this some solution and there is no other way.
    But it's working

    Talking about effects with the Jam you can go nuts for real.
    Set parameters etc.

    Traktor and jam are great partners.
