    Hi guys,

I've owned Maschine for about a year, but haven't reakkt been using it much at all. One reason being that I've had some issues with it since selling my Mac Pro and buying an iMac. Ever since switching computers, I've struggled with Maschine killing the sound card. The card is a Motu Ultralite MK3 Hybrid, connected via USB, which I've never experienced any troubles with it except this particular one.

The issue manifests itself as soon as Maschine is connected via usb. The card works fine up until this point, but after that all sound is killed. The card still shows in the audio pane under systems preferences, but if I try to play something through, say iTunes, nothing happens. Same thing with Maschine standalone, Ableton, Logic or any other app that requires audio - no sound, and the play marker refuses to move.

Audio driver for the card is updated to the latest version. Same thing goes for Maschine driver. Same thing under both Snow Leopard and Lion.

So my question today is basicly: has anyone experienced anything like this? I remember having these kinda issues with pc's I'd put together myself, but it's certainly been a while now. Guess I'll have to file a report with both NI and Motu, but thought I'd check with you guys first.

    Hi Willy Japan,

I have the same Motu as you and I have the same problem !
The Motu dies when I plug Maschine, nothing audio works anymore.

I'm on a pc, with Windows 7. All products updated.
I've tried on my laptop with Win XP, it's the same..

I think I will have to get a firewire pcie card :(
I didn't want firewire anymore, that's why i bought the Hybrid, what a shame :/

    One solution I've found:
I play something in Winamp, then I plug the Maschine's usb and launch Maschine. When the Maschine's start is ok, I close winamp. (I think keeping alive the Motu's driver with winamp prevents the loose of the audio signal)

    Nice, isn't it ? ;)

    Hi mate,

Strangly enough, things are working out okay here now. Decided to do some more troubleshooting after writing my previous post. It appears the solution was fairly simple: down to a faulty cable between the Maschine/iMac.

Strange, as I was sure I'd tried switching that one before.

Still the problem here with a new Motu 828MkIII in usb mode !

All usb cables are new, but it doesn't work. I really think Maschine is the problem cause the Motu works very well with other software and controlers.

    Any resolution

I just picked up Maschine and I having a similar problem. My set-up is MacBook Pro/ Lion/ Motu Ultralite connected via USB / Maschine/ Oxygen keyboard

Everything worked fine until I shut down machine. my Motu would lock up and then other apps would too. So, I actually stepped down to Snow Leopard to see if that woud help. Same problem.

The motu has been rock solid for 2 years, but it seems to be the weak link. I want to keep Maschine but I'd rather not change interfaces. I saw someone mention having the Ultralite connected via FireWire alleviates the problem, but I've had issues with FW I the past.

Are you guys having success with Maschine and the Motu Ultralite currently?

    Problem SOlved

So, I found a solution. I moved my Ultralite Hybrid from the USB input in my Macbook to the Firewire input and everything is rock solid. It looks like MOTU's drivers are finicky when you have both on the same USB cluster.
