I'd like to buy Maschine but I'm not to impressed by the hardware ui.

Will there be any limited editions of any kind being released, perhaps with different coloured LED's in the pads (white or Green would be nice) or even any different kinds of paint jobs/colour schemes?

What's this white one? If the pads are white, couldn't the led's be swapped out quite easily?

    That looks cool!

Perhaps people just think that this is an asinine thread. My God! Coloured pads? What difference is that going to make to the music? Different paint schemes? Get your wax crayons out and do it yourself.

My God your ignorant aren't you? have you never heard of people Skinning Software or Customising synths? WOW, you just made one stupid ass post.

People who customise their synths or collect limited editions do so because they take pride in the equipment they are using, this is something you obviously have no experience of.

And you know what you can do with your crayons. . . . . need I say more?

Well if NI feel it's appropriate to use different coloured pads then maybe they're dumb too?

I don't know the others, but I wouldn't spend more money in the same equipment just because it has different colours.

It's a valid argument I agree I just don't get why the guy feels he has to start using put down's.

Anyway, I hear what your saying.

In music media circles if an Artist uses a custom piece of kit, this alone can help to create a buzz around him.

I Would buy something that set's me apart from other artists, and limited editions often also have added features, like the orange MPC above, it has an extra interface above it and also better specs.

Personally speaking, I'd be more inclined to buy a Maschine if the GUI was a little nicer, but that's me. you feel different but that's cool with me, I'm not asking you to buy one. Personally, I'd pay a little extra to a synthmaker to have the LED's swapped out, for White or UV LED's. Again thats just me, that's the sort of thing I do. ;)

I think the same could be said about you in this case. And, even though Chris could have worded his post a little more diplomatically, I agree in essence with what he said. I think the vast majority of potential Maschine users are concerned with how it functions, and not how it looks. And, the fact that there weren't any answers to the thread reinforces that idea, don't you think?

Anyways, keep the bickering out of the thread, please. Consider this a warning to both of you...

well, look is important too. I wouldn't even consider buying the maschine if it had the "hello kitty" picture on its body. :)

Funny you should bring that up- I was halfway thinking of painting my Maschine controller pink with the "hello kitty" on it...

Well that's a shame, the truth of the matter is that only a member of NI Staff would know the answer this question, that's why there weren't any answers to my post, I'd say no one knows.

maybe I was a little tactless for knocking the UI but thats about it, other than that it's a pretty innocent question, lot's of companies release limited editions of their kit and lot's of users buy them, I think your underestimating how well received a ltd ed would be.

Oh well, when I do customise mine, at least I know where not to post it. :D

    Ni-cad.

Sorry. Just unleashing a little 'grumpy-old-man-juice'.

Though I still stand by what I said. This whole 'skinning' (of which I am aware btw) baffles me. I buy a synth (or whatever) to make music. As long as the interface isn't pink and green and IS legible and easy to work with then away to go. For every thing put in (to anything), something else has to be left out (and here we're talking time as much as anything). If the designer spends time making the thing 'skinnable' then that time is not available to add a more useful feature. If it comes to different coloured lights (for example) then the cost is going to go up - for everyone - whether they want pretties or not.

Now, if a user decides to spend time making his/her gear look different then all that gets lost is the music that could be made in the time spent skinning. To my way of thinking, that person would please far more people by making music than by having different colours on a piece of kit that few people may ever get to see (and who may not give a flying anyway).

well, if I'm not mistaken buying a mod is all fail, modding a your own is all win. Who he hell would buy a mod? There is no personality there, show your creativity and mod the thing yourself. Some of the best MPC mods I've seen were made by users who wanted to stand out and decided to do it themselves not pay for ti to be done for them. I'm pretty sure it would be fairly easy to mod Maschine to look however you want. Buying a limited edition just to stand out would be kind of lame unless NI did something cool like drop gold hardware that would give you a chance to tour the NI factory, where I'm sure there is a Willy Wonka like figure ready to amaze, and oompaloompa's with speaker and Maschine strapped to them tapping out catchy songs abound. then you ccould be th eonly one wh made it out f the factory in-tact with a great glass maschine ready to amaze all.

(Yes, I'm being an ass) :p.

the 'moded' monomes are actually not mods but built from either a kit or cloned with an arduino board ...

moded mpc's ... brrrr ... the pinnacle of bad taste and pissing contest sillyness ... if you wanna brag just buy a proper show-off toy like a sportscar or an expensive swiss watch ... never seen anything more silly and ugly than those mpc 'mods' (most of them actually being no mods at all but just horrible paint jobs)

As I said earlier in the thread, keep the bickering, insults, etc. away. Otherwise, I'll have to lock this thread.
