I wanted to know how to put the new micro mk3 into midi mode for 3rd party apps.
You cannot at the moment
So one can't use an external midi controller for Maschine 2? Or is it just the hardware (Mikro Mk3?)
(I've been away a long time).
For example, can I use a Roland hand controller (HPD-20) to trigger sounds in Maschine 2 stand-alone, or do I need a DAW?
No the mikro has no midi mode
You should be able to do what you want with maschine
Doesnt the micro mk1,2 have 3rd party capability?
So I guess my question was backwards; I can't use the hardware Mikro to trigger sounds in my DAW. (I assume it will still trigger sounds in Maschine? (Duh)
Yes it does,
I expect it will be added at some point .it would definitely make it better
I just Rock it standalone now with Mikro3
Forced to use maschine by it self
kind of better for me since
I have not used a maschine controller since mine was stolen 5 mths ago
Is this a planned addition to the Mikro MK3?
I would have loved to use it inside Melodics.
Hi there! We will definitely be putting a MIDI mode into the Mikro in the not too distant future, you'll finger drumming in Melodics in no time
Remember that you can already use any Maschine controller (including the Mikro Mk3) as a kind of advanced MIDI controller by using the Maschine software as the "Control Editor" and using a virtual MIDI cable (to connect to other software).
Very nice information !
Can we expect this firmware update to be announced in the NI Newsletter ?
I ordered the maschine mikro mk3 and have just realized it doesn't come with midi mode, do you think they are going to add it soon or should I cancel my order (I have 14 days to cancel) ? I am willing to work with maschine 2 but I have a lot of open projects to finish in Ableton, I am so disappointed...
Well, thanks for chiming in to give a little hope there Toby. Looks like I'm gonna keep an eye out for when it's introduced and hold out on it till ya do bring it to the device. Cause I'll want to use it with more than just NI stuff, also wouldn't mind using it for superior drummer and such.
Waiting some time won't stop you from being able to finish your Ableton stuff. It's really hard to guess how soon the 'not too distant future' is.
Either take a gamble and risk it or cancel the order and order it again when MIDI mode is implemented.
Thank you for your answer I guess I was hoping somebody would tell me "don't worry, it will be implemented next week" ahah but it's okay I'll wait...
Meanwhile, it seems that a lot of people are delaying their purchase, untill they are sure this will be fixed, and reviews of the product are not as good as they could, as this missing feature is often at top of the cons list. :S
I am planning to purchase Mikro MK3. Any estimated time frame when will MIDI mode be supported for Mikro MK3?
Whilst your waiting for it I suggest you buy a piece of string and measure it though be careful not to buy the infinite brand.......................
It's very hard for us to commit to a specific date as there are a lot of things that need to come together all at once when we do a new release. Having said that, the plan is for the MIDI mode to be done well before the end of the year. Hope that helps!
