    Hello,

Naming a project is fundamental functionality. Standalone' with the MK3 ts easy to create new project but saving the display is dumb and gives no text input options, just save as "New Project" which will overwrite any previous one named this way. Is this underway for new machine update? I imagine this is implemented in the full Maschine +. File saving is top 3 basic functions of any digital sequencer. Suggest to add simple alpha scroll like in Roland drum machines with the LED 1 row text displays.

    - Buggy operation:
I lost work last night. Workflow was create song, try to save, but stuck at "Overwrite existing "New Project". Put the MK3 down and went to bed. Woke up in the AM and opened the laptop to the UI save prompt. Hit cancel, and then maschine just borked to a blank song? Worst case scenario and huge bug. No errors or anything.

Any suggestions appreciated. Standalone operation of MK3 is nice but this is bottle neck, and only step that requires you to go back to a computer.

    Thanks!

You could use SAVE COPY and then rename later.

At this time you can't rename a project from behind the controller, you'll need to use your computer for that. It can be a bit tricky, but to be honest I'm already happy that you can hop between projects using just the controller; can't do this with Push for example...

Yeah the ability to save from controller is great, and does allow option to do everything from the MK3. I imagine text manipulation from the hardware isn't easy.
Mr36 thanks will give that a try.

I would be amazing to have the chance to use encoders to scroll through character-selection.

    Bump.

We really need to be able to name projects. It’s absolutely fundamental and essential for organization.

Even if NI added a name randomizer and ability to cycle thru them with an encoder we can always go back and change it later. SOMETHING.

This will be awesome not only for projects, but renaming new kits, sounds or samples created on the MK3

Abilty to save and rename from controller would be nice. Some think it is kind of basic function. Other say it is technology of the space age.

I'm a little baffled that this feature hasn't been added yet (or wasn't there to begin with.) I'm assuming the Maschine + has this feature since it is completely stand alone, so from a software/UI front it's obvious they already have this solved. I've definitely seen a video of someone renaming samples on the M+ with a keyboard being displayed on the second screen.

At the very least they could change the default project names to a date + time format instead of "New Project" so that one could easily create new projects without worry of overwriting old ones.

Off the top of my head, I think the most intuitive/quick way to add object/project naming would be to assign a character space to each knob, with the arrow keys allowing to add more characters (or just show a new page of available character spaces). Each knob would cycle through a-Z and the touch activated menu for each knob could change from a-Z, special characters, a space.
