The NI chap at one of the in-store Mk3 launch events last night further confirmed that the Mk2 stand won't work, but also made no indication whether an alternative would be offered.

    Let‘s go!

The pins are part of the rubber, so it’s easy to cut them off nicely:

On the Mk2, the pins prevent the Maschine from scratching against the bottom edge of the metal stand. With the pins gone, I’ve added a rubber band to prevent this from happening. I’ll probably try to think of something nicer and more permanent later, but this should work for now:

With that out of the way, it seems to fit pretty good. It’s never going to be as secure as with the Mk2, but this will do nicely for my use:

AH! I was right. I better hurry and buy a cheap used stand while most people still don't know about this! :D

    Thanks for posting.

I need a sturdier solution since I am using it with the roland stand. I think its not going to work for me unfortunately.

But just using it on the table looks fine.

@t2k, good looking. Indeed the notches on the stand are a glued on rubber piece.

    It's a 3d print, why wouldn't it be real?

I bought this laptop stand from Amazon:

The MK3 Controller fits on it nicely and I like the soft rubber material on the front which prevents the MK3 from getting scratches ;)! I use it on the lowest viewing angle and it makes working with the MK3 more comfortable. So, I can highly recommend this stand for the MK3

This one might be fitting the MK3, too:

Not the cheapest solution though, but it looks solid and stylish imho.

I was wondering if it will be possible to use snare stand with all those ins and outs on the back.
I guess I'll get back to my snare stand too.

Scroll down and look for a dude called Kasper Sonnich Jørgensen, he is the one who made it and posted the original picture, not sure if he sells it. Maybe he can send you his 3d file so you can have it printed by yourself.

I like the 3D printed stand! For now, I'm just with the cheap IKEA stand and my MX400 if I need upright drum-stand functionality.

I was looking for a small and low profile stand, something with a built-in feel that stays attached to the MK3 so I don't have to worry about it when carrying it around with me. For now, I settled for this:
Its made for laptops but works.
It's like a hinge with a lock mechanism, one of the flaps is self-adherent and sticks to the metal well enough for now. It's made of plastic. Its sturdy enough that hitting the pads don't move the controller or shake it. If the flap is set back for no angle the back part will have a few extra millimeters of height, and this mode the unit does get a bit slippery but only if you push it, hitting the pads, turning knobs etc won't move/shake the unit.
It doesn't give a huge angle but its enough for me and costs about 15$.

This is CM not Inches, do your googles :D

In case anyone is interested its called Kick Flip by Bluelounge, its available on amazon too.

    Nice solution D.

I just received my MK3. I used Maschine stand on a snare drum stand but today I resurrected my snare drum clam and put my controller on it.
I don't use MK3 audio card, so I don't need inputs, but clam can be put the other way, so it will not cover anything on the back.

Then the question becomes, is NI making a new Machine stand for the Mk3 so that it can fit on a snare stand? OR, is there a way to make the Mk3 fit onto the old stand, using zipties or some other hack?

Like said before it fits if you remove the pins or the plastic band containing the pins, however, depending on the angle it might not be secure enough for everyone's needs.
