That's my point I guess, if it's potentially not secure I'm not messing with it. I have a dog that runs around and a clumsy wife. Still looking for a better solution...

If it's on a desk, id say its pretty safe, if something makes it fall off a desk then with or without the stand it will fall.
If it's mounted on a snare drum stand with the included attachment I understand the concern, I wouldn't risk it either, i also have 2 dogs and super clumsy girlfriend lol :D

I would just place a strong black rubber band between the top-back of the MK3 and the under the back part of the stand, that should keep it in place.

NI could easily make an adapter for the current stand to replace the pins one, just a plastic piece that could hold the unit by the corners or back, something like this orange bit:

But properly designed of course :D

    :D Nop.
You like it? 20$ Buy it here: amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Ventilated-Adjustable-Laptop-Stand/dp/B00WRDS8H0
Just a regular laptop stand, there's hundreds of similar design out there, looks like a nice option though...

Good eye D-One! It looks ok (maybe it would be too wobbly), but i hoped that it will be designed for snare drum stand.

I'm using the Amazon Basics stands as well after struggling to find one at the right angles for both being stood up and sat down. Very adjustable 12-35 degrees with around 7 settings or 8 if you have it flat, very sturdy and very cheap at around £15 here in the UK.

i have been using various laptop stands. the roland pc stand works well as it is basically a table for a 17 laptop, but it has limited tilt. if you use it backwards, the flange is on the rear, it keeps it in place.

i have the original stand and all it needs to fit the mk3 is a sort sled with that has a front flange and in the back think enough for the holes.... kind of like putting an adapter plate on it that has the fit hole of the mk1/2.

these is also alway industrial strength velcro..lol... just be sure to put gaffers tape at the places where you put the velcro on or you will NEVER be able to get the velcro off.. i do this with effect pedals and it works fine, the gaffer tapes sticks well and comes off fairly easy if you want to and the velcro will not pull off the gaffers tape... you could actually take the mk1/2 stand, take off the rubber strip and put a velcro strip there..

here is another quick low cost solution

    https://on-stage.com/products/view/10771/121987#

you could put a short fitted .625, 5/8 pipe in is and put is in a snare stand with the some goose neck hardware...

the only thing it is an onstage one and their quality control is low, also there are 2 sets of specs, one says depth is 10, but on the product one sheet it says 13. mk3 is 11 deep... seems they do not even know the specs of their own products..

I wish the Maschine Mk3 had foldable legs like the Studio since I only plan to use it on a desk. I had looked everywhere for a suitable Maschine Mk3 stand and finally settled on the Satechi Lightweight Aluminum Portable Laptop Stand: https://satechi.net/collections/sta...ops-notebooks-and-tablets?variant=45297679689

It is available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075KTSLKL/
    [IMG]

The Satechi stand is very similar to the one from mpcstuff.com that was mentioned earlier in this thread: https://www.mpcstuff.com/akai-mpc-live-touch-studio-mpk-mashine-controller-folding-tilt-stand/, however, it is slightly wider and the rubber parts are black (on the black version), which I personally prefer to the grey rubber on black aluminum.

When folded flat (very portable) the stand measures: [ 9 in / 228.6 mm (W) x 8.875 in / 225.4 mm (L) x 0.5 in / 12.7 mm (D) ]. When opened, the top rear edge of the stand rises to [ 2.875 in / 73 mm ] above the surface bringing the Maschine Mk3's top rear edge to [ 5.1875 in / 131.76 mm ] at a nice 22º viewing angle. It is barely noticeable and pretty stable on my desk, even when pounding on the pads.

there are only 3 things the existing stands needs to have done

    1. remove strip with the 2 hard rubber posts
    2. extend the bottom flange to be twice as high "
    3. put a side flange on each side of the top where the rubber strip was of the same height "
"about the same height as the 2 hard rubber posts

this would give the exact same support and hold, but to do this to the existing stand requires creating a tray or welding metal. should be very easy for NI to update this with a new design, best would be to line the flanges with rubber creating a snug and shock absorbing fit.

you can as well easily take off the rubber strip with the 2 posts as well if you are just using it on a desltop, though i would not do that if i was putting it in a stand as one bump and it can slip out. for now you could use velcro tape.

I just got my MK3 and plan to use it side-by-side with my Jam. I've seen various videos with those two looking great together, same height, etc. But they don't look good together naturally, with or without the Jam's stand. Is there any trick to duplicating what I see in the videos? For example, with the Amazon ventilated stand, are the angles flexible enough to make them look good together?

This ended up being a great thread. It was good advice to edit my old maschine stand! It works great and now I can get the new unit.

    Thx

I have a great idea for an MK3 workstation.

I will be making it in the new year.

Firstly I will need a laptop stand from ikea, a laptop table from ikea, a clamping monitor stand and of course a monitor.

    Laptop stand.
    https://m.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/art/40165466/

    Laptop table.
    https://m.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/art/60242176/

    Clamping monitor stand.
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop...tand-with-arm-and-desk-clamp-black-anbtlcdt6b

I will place the MK3 on the laptop stand, the laptop stand on the table and the clamping monitor stand on the back of the table with monitor sitting above or just behind the MK3. Just need a long hdmi cable to reach your laptop or desktop.

I also need to consider if a wireless mouse and mouse pad will fit on the table.

    Will post pics when completed.

    Feedback welcomed.

I posted these in a thread a while back but I built this for a stand/laptop hideaway I made (effective for that standalone experience). It only increases the pitch about 1.5 degrees but can be modded for higher. In a couple weeks when I am back home I planned on posting a how-to DIY, it isn't impossible to do with minimal tools.

Have you considered adding a slim fan to the bottom layer? It looks like its thick enough for one of thease
    https://www.quietpc.com/slipstream-120-slim-2000
since it's in the bottom it wouldn't be visible and it's easy to adapt a USB cable to power it.
