I don't know of NI bringing out a whole number release without charging for an upgrade, do you think thee will be a paid 2.0 update then?

    Mk2 looks good, thanks NI

NI did a good job of making a leap forward without losing its loyal customer base with the maschine mK2. The colored pads are sweet looking, def going to get a lot of new heads turning on this one. I am impressed.
Also surprised by dick wheel, good way to appeal to old time mpc users.
Good job with usb port improvement, i had mine snap off once on maschine 1.5
I like that you made it heavier.

I think it looks like a toy, but the kind of toy that demands envy from everyone 6 months to 100 yrs old.

The real question is, are we just being teased by NI who already is moving ahead with 2.0,
Or is this as an end run in their drum maschine line, i.e., they are testing the waters for even developing 2.0?

The facts is NI stepped up with some great improvements for 1.8, color coded pads and the ability to fully function as a vst instrument inside a daw.
They are going to move in this direction full force if they hope to keep up with the potent akai/abletone partnership.
What an arms race to behold, and this is only the beginning folks, given the future of electronic music. If i were an investor, i would see a plethora of potential in this competitive market. Both companies have it locked down differently, and ultimately it iswe the consumer who will win.

It says the pads are more sensitive so I wonder, did they add the thinner corx stick-ons along with the other mpcstuff.com mods?

This would be a cool second controller if the crossgrade is reasonable. Pretty lights!

MKII hardware has other improvements besides the color pads:

I would also expect them all to have locking USB ports like on the Mikro.
    ---
 Sorry but Akai's heydays are long gone. They've already abandoned all hardware MPCs and they're the ones scrambling to catch up to NI and still have yet to show anything but hype.

Im hoping they bring crossgrade hardware only version out at a decent price. After all - us longtime Maschine shouldn't have to pay all over again for the full package right? That would make no sense?
    ---
Must say im personally loving the new look of the mk2 and deffo wanna grab the white one! Just hoping i can on crossgrade

    I gotta chime in here...

Who the hell needs colored pads? How about instead...

    A. giving us a song clock/timer so we can see how long our song is.
    B. giving us automated mutes, where we can mute and unmute groups on the fly, MPC-style?
    C. improving the drum layering, as it's complete crap, and you have no control over each new drum sound as you add it (unless you go into the map mode, which is even more of a headache). I seriously despise the drum layering in Maschine. Nothing beats Poise for drum layering. Absolute perfection.
    D. Realtime swing with note repeat

    All of that said...

Thank you, NI for the following things in 1.8:

    A. time-stretch
    B. sample position indicator (in both hardware and software)
    C. being able to save groups WITH samples
    D. enabling the transport control to control DAW in VST mode

Seriously, though... the colored pads, negative LCD screen, and clickable rotary encoder (and I suppose all clickable buttons)... it's all hype. And with the swappable faceplates... all the 3rd-party Maschine accessory designers were making a killing, so NI had to basically put them in the background. I just don't think ANY of this was necessary. Couldn't it have waited til Maschine 2.0?

And the inclusion of Massive... ok, I know that dubstep is seriously the most popular electronic music right now... and a lot of that is because of Massive... but I hate that cold, digital sound that Massive produces... I tried it at friends' studios and I just cannot get into it at all. Is NI including Massive only because dubstep is the "thing" right now?

As far as the video, I (am editing this to be a little less harsh)... I'm not a big fan of Ellis... interview videos I've seen of him show him to have this kind of rockstar-ish attitude and I really am not a fan of that.... his finger-drumming is impressive but the music he makes has no soul or heart... it's just technique.... what NI should have done is had Justin from Mr. Invisible demonstrate Maschine MKII. Mr. Invisible is a Maschine-using group that is seriously pushing hip-hop and music production to the next level.

I am seriously disappointed with these longtime requests that have constantly gone ignored....

My only hopes are that we might be able to see them in 1.9.

I'll end this on a positive note, and say once again... thank you NI for the second A-B-C-D list.... please, get on the first list... we're seriously growing impatient.

I seriously think the MPC Ren and MPC Studio might kill Maschine.... and I don't want that to happen (because I still LOVE Maschine).
    ---
This..... should be an absolute priority. ABSOLUTE PRIORITY.

    Remember the requests?
    This was mine:

    faster wrote:
I would like to see a more efficient SCENE function, where each scene would remember preset of a VST- X. Let's say I load Massive and use a patch/snapshot # 7 bass in scene one. Scene two, I use a pad prog.change #15.
Each of these program changes would be remembered and saved with each SCENE.
Advantage is, it saves on CPU...Now scene works more as a "big group pattern"
This requires NO change of VST, only a snapshot/program change.....(I shortened the post #12)

Thanks for the suggestion. This is something we’re looking into at the moment.

Could it mean that they actually integrated program change with MASSIVE in 1.8? I suggested Massive, (thinking it is a great all around (NI) synth), and now I see that it is included as a part of new MK II!
To me, even if only Massive could do program changes, it is GREAT. Hope I am not too optimistic:D

Why not Massive when its the most popular synth they have? Its a very versatile synth and is not just used for dubstep.

I love Massive basses and leads for hip hop. NI are doing a good thing because mpc ren or studio are not gunna have a free fully functional synth like Massive with their product. Especially when its one of the most popular vst synths out.

AKAI does not make software like NI does when it comes to the new generation of Total Intergration. Of course NI has its quirks it needs to work on like you said there is some stuff id like to see fixed too, but massive is a deal sealer when you think about what your really getting.

this would require making real users(us) the priority. if that was the case with this new product, we would have been getting updates/warnings about this and have an actual NI employed mod here talking us through things and answering questions.

instead we have to wait for MOTR to get an answer, and vague answers at that.

so if you're venting to us, go ahead our ears are open lol. but if you think that NI is seeing this, good luck screaming at a brick wall.

you guys remember keir? i miss keir.

btw im not upset with NI, im used to the silent treatment now. people just make long posts here so sowari and brighteous can read them lol.

I am also hoping for a crossgrade, can any owners of the very first maschine(F1 buttons) say that there was a discount from their maschine to the newer labelled one?

No, of course there wasn't, the only difference was the labelling on a few buttons.
