Hi guys I read about this subject on several diferent places and they always say that the midi sync between them gets out. However they are old posts so
I was wondering if anything changed about this subject, is it safe to use them both live on the same macbook pro?
Is it possible to use one of the decks of traktor Pro like the output of maschine(audio thru)? How? Apc40 as a mixer.
I am using audio8 as audio interface.
In case the question above is no, ableton live with maschine as vst and traktor is a good solution, do they sync well, flawless? What about cpu power using them all together live?

I am asking this because I am thinking about buying maschine.

    Thanks.

I'm using both on a macbook pro. Audio 8, 4 decks, FX all channels. No problems

Maschine and Traktor use the same audio outputs no problem, you can even have a track playing on say Deck A (Channel 1 & 2 and Maschine playing out the same channels.

    I'd like to see...

Maschine as a plugin inside Traktor possibly as an alternative to the Sample player. This way you could use the internal FX of Traktor on the Maschine

    For Example:

    Deck A - Traktor A
    Deck B - Traktor B
    Deck C - Maschine plugin
    Deck D - Traktor sampler

The latency slider isn't very intuitive, it would be great to have some sort of ping-receive automatic latency depending on your sample rate inside Traktor.

It would be great if you also didn't have to switch between programs and maybe have midi buttons assigned for quick navigation of either program.

I think the new version of Traktor will fix a lot of the problems, well i'm hoping so at least. The sampler doesn't do much for, but i think it's a great addition.

    Thanks for your answer,
let me see if I understand right....you can have a loop going on maschine and have 4 decks on traktor playing without external mixer, using internal traktor mixer?
    How and wow?

Do they sync perfectly, easy/quick to set up before a dj set?

What about Ableton, I know is possible but is the sync perfect?

    thanks.

Ableton's midi timing isn't the greatest and i'm guessing will add a layer of awkwardness to the equation, but if it's good enough for Richie Hawtin, there's way around everything with a bit of tinkering.

I use external mixer but internal should be fine as well. I'll find the settings when i get home over the weekend. It works now but it can be improved, i'm hoping the new update to Traktor will help

Im also interested in this but form the other side. As a Maschine User Im copnsidering using Tractor Pro to play back rendered synth loops for my live sets and using maschine for the drums & percussion. Can you sync maschine and Tractor Pro without needing ableton or a similar DAW?

So essentially Id be using Tractor Pro as a midi synced performance tool rather than for normal DJing. Is this possible?

My expierience in the last few days was:
syncing Maschine Standalone to Traktor gives me some weird crackles on maschine now and then, approx every 16 to 32 beats when the Maschine clip starts from the beginning.
syncing Live with Maschine as Plugin to Traktor works almost perfect, I can also load some Kore Instruments and can use more groups in Maschine than if used in Standalone.

Btw I mix internally in Traktor, using Deck D as Audio through for Maschine. To achieve this with the Audiofire2 I connect the spdif out to spdif in.

@ekwipt: I really dont know what you mean with "Abletons midi timing isnt the greatest"

So really live is needed to get good results right now? That's a shame, Id prefer to leave ableton out of it completely, and just work with NI products.

maybe i´m doing something wrong but yes, with live i get better results. for this setup a live LE or intro version is enough, so its not really a money issue.

Ive already got live 8 but I dont want to use it if I can avoid it, so its not really a money issue for me, more a "Id like to use a few bits of software as possible" one instead :)

@Aiki: I didn´t try syncing Traktor to Maschine but this might work better because Traktor should be more tolerant to clockdrifting as it is also meant to play tracks with timecode which isnt 100% accurate, too.

@Aikighost I don't use Ableton, the only reason I could see for using Ableton would be to route the audio through using soundflower or similar or to use external vst/au as extra effects (a bit convoluted for me)

In your situation you may be better off using Ableton with Maschine inserted as a plugin. Are you talking about external synths (analog/digital). I think you would be better off using midi events that way you could tweak the synth as you go along?

@Procrastinator Tried to find some links but couldn't find anything concrete so i'll retract my statement, but it's something i've "picked up" over the years from different forums. But... introducing any extra programs will always introduce extra latency, everything takes some "time" to compute.

I just shared my experience... I am not a programmer but i think i have lots of computer experience and I share your opinion with the "everything takes time" stuff but having live "between" Traktor and Maschine doesn´t really introduce an extra programm, on OS level its still two programms, traktor and live. AFAICS Live handles the fluctuating midi-clock that traktor gives better than the maschine standalone. Maybe the part that differences the maschine standalone from the plugin ist not well programmed.

I here you but I don't believe Ableton Live has a more stable midi clock than Maschine, or Traktor for that matter. It would probably be something to test though.

Inserting plugins inside Ableton definitely adds a layer of latency, therefore I believe the latency settings would be higher than running Maschine in standalone. (Nothing to backup my claim, but as you say knowledge gained from other areas of computers, DAWs etc.

So here is a quick noobie question, Ive got tractor pro and maschine syncing without any problems. Now is there any easy way to route the audio of my maschine to a tractor pro deck so I can use tractors effects on my maschine beats?

Im on a PC do I need soundflower or similar? Or am I just missing a very obvious option in tractor?
