Opening a sequencer, and then being forced to open an inferior sequencer inside the other sequencer is stupid.

Who is forcing you to open Maschine? And even if they are, who is forcing you to use the sequencer?

Yes but wouldn't it be more user friendly to give both as an option?

Many users buy Maschine in order to avoid the use of a DAW. I can understand that other users like to use Maschine as a VST inside a Daw, but it doesn't means that everybody has to do the same ... or at least that everybody feels confortable working in that way.

So ... the users that like to use Maschine as a Stand-alone production center, really need Audio tracks. It's my case ... I need to use vocal lines and I really detest to export Maschine's song in wav in order to load it in REAPER, to add those vocal lines because Maschine can't record audio more than the scene / pattern limits.

We're not asking audio tracks in a deep implementation ... just to be able to record audio out of those limits (scene/pattern), and apply some effects. Keep the tool symple. I don't spect time-stretching and stuff advanced like that ... just the audio thing, add (from file), duplicate, delete, move and record ... nothing more ... and the slots to use effects, of course.

We're not asking a game changer thing. We're asking to add a new tool (audio-tracks), in order to avoid the use of another DAW.
We're asking simply to do all the job in Maschine ... and the missing thing is audio tracks. At least for me, I don't need nothing more.

If it would be necesary to pay for it in a future upgrade (maschine 3.0), I'll be glad!

Tried running Maschine as a plugin? Using it almost exactly the same, but inside REAPER, using REAPER's audio tracks? Or, if you have a multi-client soundcard, simply running both standalone alongside each other?
To me, this is preferable to NI just tacking on "audio tracks" to Maschine.

This is simply not true. Maschine can record audio for as long as your disk space allows. Admittedly, there are some quirks and annoyances when dealing with longer audio files in Maschine (and I really want NI to address these), but the idea that any mono or stereo (non-multitrack) audio cannot be recorded and used in Maschine is faulty information.

And back to my comment about "tacking on" these audio tracks. Simple, yes, but within the Maschine sphere, with the Maschine aesthetic. It makes little sense to just add traditional-style "linear" audio tracks. For the near future, to be honest, I'd much rather NI improve/develop/finish what is already there to be able to cover all these "audio track" functions. Things such as improved slicing and automatic slicing based on silence etc. (for multiple takes within a single audio file), a sampler module mode that doesn't need a note trigger to play the sample, playback from the relative position of the sample/loop (no need to play the Scene from the beginning). But either way, I truly hope NI keep Maschine being Maschine.

That's what they all say. :p

I really miss some kind of audio function as well.
I don't necessarily think that audio tracks need to be implemented like in a daw though.
I actually would prefer some kind of looper.
To be able to record, not sample, in sync with my current project. (think quick guitar loops over drums for an idea of how i picture it)

Workflow could be something like this:
insert "audiotrack" on pad. The track sets to the same length as the current looplength. record as any other track. loops until you stop. chose take.
The output file is named XXX-bpm_filename.ext. So that you can keep stuff for other recordings.
This way you could use it almost like a daw if you want to.
you could basically record a whole song, but piece by piece, which is consistent with how maschine works now.
Sceptics like Mr36 can just use the looper as just a quick looper and still not get their workflow broken or muddled.

The way things work now, maschine is so close to being perfect for me, i dont want it to be a complete daw (at least i don't think so)
But i want to be able to record audio aswell, and then take the last steps (if needed) in a daw.

pretty please with sugar on top NI.

    Hi everyone

I think native Instruments is having problems in this department so i think i can help them out. I have a simple solution that will help our workflow that wont take that long at all to code or implement. I just want to record .play a full length vocal / recorded instruments scene free so i can work my beats / sounds around. At the moment it is breaking the workflow.

    GROUP SCENE BYPASS
    Action 1 ---> Select Group
Action 2 ---> Select Scene Bypass / Can be implemented anywhere as a check-box

    RESULT
This would allow a pattern that will bypass all scenes. Pattern will always start at the beginning of track and will not loop, but can be adjusted and manipulated as per standard pattern. Transport and arranger will stay same, sample recorder will stay same. Effectively it wont require a complete re-program and should be simple enough to implement quickly. A single pattern would be good enough to trigger audio from the group similar to the way we trigger sliced audio from midi.

Even if i have to paint the midi in manually it would still be good enough for most peoples requirements in this area so NI can concentrate on other parts of updating maschine software. Effectively we would like this released in the next MINOR update. Even if it is a temporary solution to what they may be planning for v3.0 of the machine update.

    Thanks for reading.

Using the Maschine's limited sequencer inside Ableton's far superior sequencer is stupid.
