Yeah- it's a review copy. Review copies are always NFR.

So... what does it take to be a reviewer ?

I mean... I have a blog with a lot of traffic ( I had like 4500 unique visits/day for about a week), but I guess they're only sending it to sites that target musicians, right ?

but he said above that as a reviewer they have to send the maschine back from the place they received it from. So do you really want to be a reviewer? thats like being teased and prodded with new toys and gear and then as soon as you fall in love you have to send it away? no fun! :D

Yeah, but you can make a pretty good idea about the product that way.

Being associated with a site or magazine that has a good reputation for their reviews. Or, if you're starting a review site from scratch, being able to talk a good game and back it up.

Whether or not you have to return the product depends on the developer for the most part. With most of the reviews I've done, the developer's allowed me to keep the product and be in the upgrade cycle. However, they're still NFR; I can't sell my licenses to them (which is fair).

    Yup it's fair!
I didn't knew NFR applies only for reviewers. Why would you sell it if you got it for free ;)

I'm starting to envy you :)

NFR doesn't apply only to reviewers. Any promotional copies are usually NFR. And, with a lot of the companies I do testing for, you get a NFR license for the work you put into testing.
Then do what I've done over the last few years; get to know the developers.

The wonderful part about the industry these days is the dialog you can have with the people who design and code the instruments you use on a daily basis =)

:) I'm a graphic designer. I don't do music on a daily basis, although it would be cool :)

So What's the status on the review for Maschine? I've been hitting your site daily (well I do that anyway) trying to see what you guys would say (even though I already got it). In-fact I've been hitting all major gear and computer music sites looking for reviews but they aren't many at all. Create Digital Music hasn't put their's up either.
