    that looks great.

what sort of fake wood did you get, being so thin are they stickers? simply cut to size?

also im hoping maybe the team at ni will notice this thread and maybe supply us a accurate photoshop file of the face of maschine so we can design our own faces.

That does look ill, man! Is that like the adhesive fake wood decal like bits used on furniture? I can't remember what they're officially called.

    Thanks guys.
Yup, it's fake wood decal. I used it on a door, and the remaining bits on Maschine :D

Is the artificial finish a 3M (TM) DI-NOC (TM) Artificial finish? I work in R&D in the Display and Graphics Business Lab at 3M and the division (Architectural Markets) that sells that product is in our sector.

I am not sure if you can buy the product in small quantities. There is a link on the web page that I linked above that will take you to a supplier.

There is a company called Skinit.com that makes applique's for different products. I think that their products use a 3M structured adhesive similar to the stuff on the DI-NOC product but I am not sure. Several of the guys in my lab have skins on their laptops with family photos or cool geometric designs. Based on what I have seen the skins are holding up very nicely. When you think about it an industrial scientist or engineer's laptop gets a lot of wear - constantly being picked up, moved around, put in and out of cases, etc., so I think the product must be pretty darned good. Anyway Skinit has a musical instrument category but the only standard pre-cut products are for an Akai MPC 1000 and Fender guitar pick guards (makes sense there big time). I would think that you could order a couple of skins for something large like a laptop and then cut them to fit the Maschine. Another option would be to try to contact Skinit and see if they would work with you to make a custom skin.

@alexbuga: nice look, correct me if I'm wrong..but the product you're using is a decal? I ask being that I'm thinking of something similar but a wood veneer & a dremel tool.
@NI: it would be nice to supply forum members with a download of the Maschine's face/body template for custom facade treatments *(Adobe Illustrator-.ai or Photoshop-.psd). If so perhaps forum members can collectively share and/or promote our works via the NI shop. For example I could airbrush the outer-shell and then use the template w/a thermal print for proper button/knob designations. Hopefully such a mod would not affect the warranty being it's only a cosmetic change which does not hinder functionality.

For accessory stuff like this my first personal interest would be in a fitted dust cover and/or sleeve for my Maschine hardware. Novation makes a Launchpad neoprene sleeve. I don't think that design would be appropriate for something with knobs, but if changed to be made out of tough nylon with stiff foam padding inside as in a laptop sleeve/bag I think it would be cool for Maschine. A dust cover for in the studio would be great too. I would buy something like that.
