Hello, I'm thinking of buying the Maschine Mikro hardware, I know it comes with a lot of sounds. I also own Komplete 12. I'm new to using NI stuff, and have a few questions.

    1. Are any of the Maschine sounds duplicates of any Komplete 12 sounds? I have heard it includes some of the same synths. I already have Monark and Massive, what will happen if Maschine installs those again? Will it know I have them, and not re-install? Will it make duplicates?

    2. Can Maschine browse and play all my Komplete libraries, including expansion packs I've purchased? i.e. does Maschine treat all my NI content as a single library?

Thanks to anyone who has more familiarity with Maschine and can help me know what to expect.

#1 yes to duplicates if things are already installed, no need to install them again...it is the same product. The Factory "selection" libraries will contain duplicate presets, but since you have the full versions already don't install them.

#2 yes Komplete integrates nicely with Machine.

So, if you get the Mikro, all you really need to do is install the Maschine2 software.

Thanks Blindeddie, I'll just avoid the factory selection libraries. I thought maybe it had some unique stuff only found on Maschine. Just bought the Mikro!

There is a machine Factory library, but I believe that is an upgrade purchase (from the factory selection).

I believe if there are any preset duplicates it would be from the Komplete Select addition now included along side Maschine as a separate installation. Should be good to go to just install Maschine factory content and skip registering the Komplete Select.

You're better off using Komplete Kontrol for Komplete instruments, particularly Massive and Massive X which use aftertouch in many presets (something Maschine filters out).

Yes, but keep in mind that a Mikro is more depending on software interaction that the regular Maschine Mk3. So while you can indeed do this you won't be doing so from behind the controller but you'll need your mouse and keyboard to set things up.
