So.......now I have Push to go along w/ Maschine. Needless to say I'm pretty pumped about the possibilities. Live is my go-to DAW for everything but since I've bought Maschine back in March, I've really grown to love it.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is using this combo and if so, how exactly are doing it? I realize there's a million different ways to use these two together. So, if you don't mind, I'd LOVE to hear what all yinz are doing. :)

Am I really the only person on earth using both of these amazing controllers/programs together? That's a lot of views and NO comments.
Well, if anyone thinks of anything let me know. When I figure out my work-flow w/ these 2, I'll let you guys know. : )

I have my Push for about 3 weeks now, along with Live (upgraded to the Suite last week). So far I've been too busy learning Live and Push, so I haven't really worked on finding a workflow that incorporates both Maschine AND Push. We'll see.
So far I love the Push, the buttons, the pitch slide thingy, the touch-sensitive encoders. Really feels sturdy.
My Maschine is a MKI that i have since end of 2010 now, so I am really used to it and know all it's limitations.
With that in mind, I still got a lot of practice ahead with Live and Push to reach that same level of comfort.

I just got Push a month or so ago, but I'm using them together. I prefer making beats with Maschine and using Push for the rest, I have a Live set that is a template with Maschine in the first track and I just start from there. I've also started working on doing some improv with them both...I have a live set that loads up with a bunch of kits in Maschine and a bunch of instruments in Live and I can easily do some improv that way. I think most people are using Push to get rid of Maschine and make everything via Abelton, but for me I like them both.

Maschine loaded in track one of ableton, then 15 more audio tracks in ableton the first 8, each a separate out from a group in maschine the next 8 reserved for individual pads in maschine. This allows me to use maxforlive effects and abletons midi effects on maschine sounds . You can also use push scale mode to play sounds on maschine. I enjoy not having to use my monitor to often so being able to browse most of my effects and sounds either with maschine, for my NI products or push for my ableton library is a big plus for me.

Ive been using maschine a lot longer than ableton, and drifted towards ableton and push because i wanted free-looping tracks, timestretching/warping, max4live, etc.. with that said, for me maschine is still a better choice for slicing audio and live sampling, not to mention the mk2 pads are the most sensitive and nicest to play drums on. I have a default template set up where I have A-G slice groups, with one channel of midi per group, and then on group H the rest of the 9 midi tracks for tonal instruments. It works fairly well so I can use abletons sequencing but still use maschine for chopping and quick ideas. I am really into push for melodies and mixing up patterns. They are both very quick to make music. insane really. Having both is overload. There is always something to complain about, but really there are almost too many choices, and sometimes that is the paralyzing factor for me.
With both ableton and maschine getting awesome updates I think everything will change about how i use the two together. I'd like to hear some ideas for what the best setup between maschine 2.0 and live 9.1 might be. I have two large monitors and intend to use them. It seems like maschine will have a much better midi implementation, so a macro device rack in ableton per maschine track sounds pretty good. how will dueling automations sound? not sure if there will be access to more than 16 midi tracks, but that would be an obvious benefit. I hope the vst maschine will be multi-core friendly inside live

Really interested in this topic, have been playing around with both as well...

    Check out :
AudioModder VST Bridge for Ableton Push (OS X / Windows 7+)

    http://www.audiomodder.com/collections/all/products/push-vst-bridge

"Ableton Push VST Bridge is a library of converted VST presets. It allows owners of Native Instruments Komplete 9 Ultimate VST's, Maschine, UAD Plugins and Soundtoys Native Effects (64 Bit Au only) to utilise presets through Push's browser. Furthermore it opens up many Kontakt, Reaktor instruments, and Guitar Rig presets directly, which is usually a multi-step mouse driven process.

Instruments like Razor, Massive and many others have dials pre-configured so your ready for step automation in Live 9.1 when you load any preset from Push.

For Maschine, you can load any kit straight from the Live or Push browser. Every kit is an Ableton preset with split 16 channel routing of sounds configured in Live drum racks. This doesn't just benefit users of Push, but Maschine users in general- you have 16 individual audio chains ready to add Live's effects and automation. It lets you sequence all your beats and effects automation in Live clips for Maschine."

    Also check out:

Sequencing maschine drum tracks with ableton push

Not strictly related to using Maschine + Push but also awesome is the PXT series of scripts from Native Kontrol:
    http://www.nativekontrol.com/PXT_Series.html

The general one would seemingly let you use Push functionality within Maschine standalone.

I haven't been able to find a whole lot of info on using them together so far, so anyone who knows of more stuff like this please post it!

But how do you simply use them both w/o the MIDI conflicting? Do you just change the MIDI channel in Maschine or.......?

Push can browse and sequence Maschine, Komplete 9 Ultimate, Reaktor Presets

I've updated the AudioModder Push Vst Preset Bridge to be able to support all of Komplete 9 Ultimate and the factory Maschine kits.
You can use this with Push to Browse VST presets and automate parameters.
There's also a new video showing how it all works and what will happen with live 9.1 and step automation goodness.

It is working on both OSX and Windows. There's also a FAQ Here

played with Maschine standalone and Push using PXT-General script last night... very fun combo for jamming out on the couch away from comp screen

really complements to add something for melodies/chords etc, was using an seethru axis 49 before which was great for chords but not so great for playability... scales mode is awesome

then once idea is formed enough bounce it all back into ableton and begin arranging, aided by PXT-live, filling in the gaps with clips using Push as normal

    anyone else doing something similar?

Re: Push to Browse VST above:
    - not knowing which of the Komplete presets i don't have (don't have the full Komplete, some came with Maschine and had bought some others) is a bit annoying, had a couple of crashes trying to load nonexisting presets by mistake
    - also the long menu navigation to get to NI presets ain't so cool, all the way to the right on the Push LED menu(maybe there is a way to short the number of menus to browse though?).
    - finally really hoping there is some support for the maschine expansion kits, really missing them...

How are you doing this? MIDI? Audio? Drag-drop?

audio drag drop if i'm fairly certain I have enough loop variations to go on with arranging

midi drag drop using ableton external instruments playing one instance of the maschine vst, if I know i'll need to make a few more variations,
can speed this process up by starting with an ableton template pre-populated with the routings

the main thing is to make ideas on couch away from the comp screen, back to the screen/mouse for arranging

@beisi: to scroll all the way to the right, dont forget you can hit that key a few times for the preset folder to take up 3 rows, but if you want to get to places faster there is this -
    http://audiomodder.myshopify.com/bl...n-push-browser-to-make-places-more-accessible

I will be getting to the Maschine Expansions once I know the dust has settled with all the Maschine 2.0 updates. I hope to make everything compatible there.

I hope ableton allow us to get to places faster. there are browser hacks to get there which we used to use - checkout dj limbs tutorial, but I prefer forward compatibility over giving people some hacked solution.

I use both but I am actually trying to do everything in Maschine and only use Push for the scales. I run maschine as plugin in Ableton.. Im just really loving the whole hands on sampler feel of maschine just creating chopping and resampling and automating etc..

Just the quickness is great .. I want to leave everything in maschine until the very last possible minute then track out in Ableton.

Cant wait for 2.0 Im hoping all my mix downs will be happening in maschine from now on..

I feel the same way. I LOVE MAschine. I always try to do as much as I can in MAschine. I love the workflow.

I've been dragging and dropping and its working pretty well but I can't figure out how to use MAschine as a VST in Live. It just doesn't work for me. Do I have to use the template or set up MIDI prefs/????

@beisi and for those that still like to use both-
    Maschine 2.0 and Push
Now the bridge loads Maschine 2.0 kits from Push's browser as drum racks.
They are also preconfigured with 16 channel audio routing back into the chains for FX - time saver.
For nicer control and M4L users we made a device to map 8 macros of each chain into the Maschine 2.0 vst. 128 parameters are preconfigured in total for every kit. This workflow lets you keep your composition and automation in Ableton's clips for the Maschine VST. And you can use Push's per step automation without looking at the computer screen.
