    Hey,

If you start the Maschine+ in Controller Mode (so just power it on while beeing connected to your computer via USB, right?), is the loading time as long as you use it in standalone mode? Or is it as quick as the older controllers?

I maybe want to buy an MK3 as up(or side)grade to my Maschine Studio. I would prefer the + version because of the nice built quality. But probably I won't often use the standalone mode...

Yes, loading time is fine if no power plug is connected; but if the power plug is connected It actually takes much longer because there is no way to boot directly into Controller Mode.

You have to start it normally which takes about 30 seconds, then go into settings, navigate to the system and enable Controller Mode... it will then fully restart which is another 15/20 seconds or so... I find it pretty annoying that there's no way to start directly into Controller Mode with a key combo.

Double the price for negligible and yet to be proven built quality?

    Hi D-One,

So the Maschine+ behaves like an Mk3 when just using the USB port? (and having the software running on the computer obviously) If that's the case, what are the advantages of using Controller Mode when the power plug is connected? I am really interested in the Maschine+ but I would like to know if it has this "plug and play" functionality for Controller Mode without having to boot the whole Linux OS to access it. Thanks in advance.

Yes, think of M+ as an MK3 with a tiny computer inside, if there is no wall power for the computer to power on then it defaults to being an MK3.

There are no advantages of using M+ in the Controller Mode with wall power, other than slightly brighter screens and the possibility of switching to standalone mode, changing modes requires the unit to reboot tho. As just a controller there are still things missing, like CE templates, DAW Control, etc...

Thanks very much for your answer D-One. I see. Hopefully, the brightness difference between Usb and wall power is not as big as in the Push 2 :) I'll see if I can find a Youtube video or picture of the Maschine+ with just Usb.

    No prob.
I had a push2, the difference is much more subtle. I recorded a small video of me unplugging the power connector, it looks worst than IRL, my phone camera isn't very good.

    Hi D-One,

That's amazing! Exactly what I needed. Thanks a million for that. The difference is very subtle like you were saying. I can live with that. I guess it's time to save money for a Machine+ :)

I cannot speak for M+, as i don't have one, but for MK3, the difference between Push2 and Maschine mk3 on USB power are really night and day. Push2 is effectively not workable without external power, and Maschine works perfect without external power, i only use it with USB, and it's very nice and bright....
