Maschine Sample Edit Options?

New Maschine Mikro user here. I'm trying to get started with sampling on the Mikro, but editing seems to be more difficult than it should be.

If I import a sample, I can turn the main knob to adjust the start/end times, but it makes drastic jumps. I can hold Shift + turn the knob, but the adjustments it makes are so minor, I have to turn the knob dozens of times in order to get the indicator to move slightly. Is there a better way to edit the samples? Clicking/dragging in the software isn't as precise as I need.

    Thanks!

The sample start/end knobs adjust based on the zoom level. Zoom in with knob 5 for more precise sample edit. Knob 6 will scroll view.

Yup, it's the Mikro. It only has 1 knob, and it's either moving the selection cursor way too much or not nearly enough. Any other options?

Hopefully this helps demonstrate what I'm trying to do. Granted, this guy's using Maschine rather than Mikro, but notice how smoothly the indicator moves when he's editing the sample. Mine definitely doesn't do that. It seems like it moves a set amount each time, rather than the indicator "gliding" through the wave form (if that makes any sense).

    :D

Sorry, I missed that. Don't see a zoom function from Mikro hardware in the manual. May be a limitation of the Mikro. You would have to zoom from software if this is the case.

I don't know if the Mikro has a shift button, but on the regular Maschine you can hold that whilst turning most knobs to 'fine tune' a value. I use this to be more accurate when slicing samples.

    Hope that helps :D

It does have a shift button, but when I use that, the adjustments are soooo small that I have to rotate the knob several dozen times to move the indicator on the sample even a fraction of a second. Like I said in my original post, it's either moving way too much or not enough. Any way to modify that?

on the bigger maschine, you can hold the nav button and use the pads to zoom in/out. does the mikro's nav button work the same way?

Oh snap, forgot about the nav button. It woks on the sample edit screen just like you said. On Mikro it's called view. Use pads 6&2 for zoom.

So if I zoom in to the waveform using the hardware, I'll be able to better fine-tune the start/end points?

yes, the resolution of the knobs is linked to the zoom - at least on the bigger maschine. not sure about mikro specifically cos its a notched encoder
