Maschine Software 2.x inquiry: Parameter Locks?

Elektron, makers of the Machinedrum and Octatrack, have a neat little function in their boxes called Paramter Locks. Effectively, you can edit any parameter on any step with the twist of a knob, and the sequencer will seamlessly morph the settings in for the step.

Maschine, of course, has allowed for a simplified version of this since the old software version -- in step mode, holding a pad will allow you to edit that step's values in percentage changes. However, if you only wanted the edit to appear on one step, you'd have to then "p-lock" the next step back to something approximating the original value. In practice, the process was slower and messier than Elektron's implementation.

My question: Does the 2.x software improve on this element? Or is the process the same? Any changes at all?

    Thanks.

I plan to upgrade soon, but am still on 1.8.2 for now.

Absolutely INFURIATINGLY to me, NI changed the implementation to be the "Elektron" way you describe for 2.x instead of just adding it and keeping the Maschine 1.x way (which I and others prefer). Now, locking just a step is quicker/easier, but locking a parameter value for the rest of the Pattern is much more cumbersome (and usually sees me reaching for the mouse).
I appreciate that some prefer the 2-point, per step, "Elektron" way, but the option would have been preferable.

I believe the new functionality is tied to the grid snap settings. If you turn off the grid it should lock for the remainder of the pattern.

Could be wrong, though. It's been a while since I used the feature.

Last time I tried (as I was thinking/hoping the same), I think it just used the last used grid setting. Or maybe 1 bar (longest). Would need to try again to confirm still though. If this does now work, it is a viable workaround, but it is still a workaround and not the same as an option for which step modulation type is used, especially as grid is relied on for more than step input (quantize, nudging). I just at least wanted the option and not to have a feature and a big part of my way of working with Maschine scrapped.

Absolutely. This is one of the most important things about product development to me. (Within reason of course.)

I had the AK for just under a month but finances made me return it. I loved it but the most important thing I learned was after learning it I never really applied myself to learning maschine. Now places was great but the choice between the old way and places in maschine would be incredibly helpful!
