I hope the + is not the flagship product for long. The i/o is not that of a flagship drum machine, especially not a standalone one.

It's the I/O of a sampler and sequencer, shockingly.

Firmware update to disable screen overlays was never considered? Or add a combination of buttons to disable it (like shift+swing). Or just program the M+ to when it detects the Jam it automatically disables the screen overlays?

Is the only thing that makes it impossible to work together with the M+?

My question might be dumb as hell since I understand nothing about developing software but there is one thing I know is that if we look for a solution we will find it.

Of course this is time and money consumed on a “dead” device. How long would this take to be done? 1 month? How much money would it cost?
I would gladly donate 50€ to a kickstart project to handle this!!! How many Jam users would do the same to keep Jam alive and usable with M+?

Or may I suggest Native Instruments to open source the Maschine Jam firmware, so the creative community of generous developers could handle the impossible?

I always seem to be on a rollercoaster with NI and their products. Been a user since the very begining and had all 3 versions of the controller. I enjoyed using them but ended up selling them because the sofware never felt complete enough to finish anything. Missed a song mode and audio feels clunky. Always excited when something new comes out and as usual find myself gassed up and seduced by the new and shiny + . My only NI hardware now is a JAM doing sterling service as my Bitwig controller with a M32 keyboard.
For me, I think the hardware will be great as usual and a super cool sofa companion. Its the new clips feature that most concerns me. Can I easily piece together a song and throw in some audio without pulling my hair out? If they get this bit right then the whole standalone thing will be far more valuable. The other thing that worries me is the shelf life of this (fairly expensive) unit. I must admit I would be worried that a mk2 version killed the used price of the mk1 in comparison to the dumb controllers for example, which hold their value resonably well. Early adopter risk I guess.

TBH, it seems your mind works different from NI's designers. That's why you don't "click" with the NI products. I have the same with Ableton stuff. It might be good to play around with some other brands (elektron, roland, ableton) to see if it clicks better with how and where you expect things to be and behave.

I don’t know why people stress this much about multiple outs? You can run a USB audio interface if you want that.
You have the option to build your song into Maschine+ and then work on it on desktop, or export stems or whatever...
I should worry about multiple outs on my MPC1000 which yeah, doesn’t have multi-track bounce :))

I preordered it right away. It’s expensive as hell for me, especially since music is my hobby, but the price is right for the package and man I’ve been dreaming about a standalone since MK1 when I was tethered to my computer with a 4.5m long cable that had USB + Headphones.

No. If you're using a computer and want to route audio from your MASCHINE project to a DAW/host, just use MASCHINE as a plugin.

Well, I am happily awaiting the Maschine+, and the new Clip-function. I also hope for more conversation on what it can do, instead of what it can't.
I already picture myself making a tune on the couch, and then taking it to band practice, hooking it up to a Yamaha YC61 and have a combination that leaves the big workstations in the dust.
I also own a Jam, and I like it very much (it was the device that made me 'get' Maschine) but I am fine with it being 'restrained' to the PC. I would not want to take it with me on the couch with the +: my spouse and kids would probably complain about the precious couch-space two of these devices would take up and ask me kindly to move my studio back up again, to the attic...

Well with the NI is officially chasing the Akai dream.
All I can say is how can people be so willing to give up the use of VSTs in 2020?
Not being able to work with VSTs would be like cutting the legs off my workflow so I can't see crippling myself that way just to be able to say I don't have to use a computer.
Unlike many i still see the computer as a strength and it's what brought me to Maschine in the first place.

If only we could get NI to put the effort they waste on hardware into developing the software we would be sitting on top of the world (or at least the top of the tree):D

Huh? Who’s giving up on VSTs? Maschine+ does everything an MK3 does in controller mode, including running all the VSTs you have on your computer. It just adds a new standalone mode (wherein it supports a small collection of the plug-ins we know and love, but way more than any competitor).

Maschine+ does not “give up” anything from an MK3 — it only adds a new mode.
