Considering how large the studio and jam are, proportionally the traktor would be about the size of my body.

Maschine just requires way more CPU than Ableton. I love it, but when paired alongside Traktor or Serato, it fails. If you add lots of processing, FX, fiddling, you quickly get audio dropouts. I've gone as far as adding a second thunderbolt IO to the mix, which helped, but that's one mess for a live setup (and really expensive)... Ableton has it's place, in my setup, more often than Maschine. I thought about selling Studio for 3 seconds, about 2 weeks before the price drop. Crap.

 

Yes, something big better be on the way, because that new Akai stuff is looking PROPER.

Cant argue with that. I owned a MPC2500 (back when Numark bought Akai) and at the time i was so disappointed and annoyed by the OS/software and the pre historic hardware that i swore i would never buy any Akai hardware ever in my life but those MPC X sure look tempting.

 

If N.I did a standalone Maschine it would probably have vst support. I think the current controller is just fine. MPCx here in Canada going for $2800, 3 grand after tax... heck no, the amount of other gear I can buy for that . I would pretty much be buying it because it's a pretty piece... bit that doesn't make you a better beat maker

 

If NI did that it would probably be in the same price range. Remember stand alone means there is a motherboard, ram, cpu... pretty much a full computer inside the unit + a sound card. At the very least 2k for sure.

 

Hopefully there will be a 2.7 & 2.8 release before we are asked to pay for 3.00 :-/

I really would like to upgrade to the studio, that price drop is super tempting. However I also want to upgrade to the next flagship controller when 3.0 drops. Do you guys think I'd be safe if I upgraded to the studio now or should I wait?

 

Make you purchases based on what you know now. No telling when NI will drop another flagship or even if it will be something you would want or be willing to pay for.

 

If it's anything Maschine based I would want it right on release or asap. Id that helps...
