I thought it might be. I'll be waiting for it to drop to that price lol, i don't get NIs pricing convention. Why are UK european customers paying such a premium? I'll probably get a mk2 and save for the studio.

Normally it is pretty close, but in this case the Euro price is still 120 Euros more expensive than the dollar conversion + 20% sales tax.

but everything else I have ever bought from the UK has always costed me more plus shipping is outrageous when ordering from there.

From the US to the UK it'd be US cost + about 25 percent duty and import VAT + international postage (+ the cost of the solution to the US power supply).

Send a email or call to customer service before claiming it's a scam. They may be able to help you.

This sort of thing always happens when there is a paid for update. You are very unlucky, but NI (and all software companies) have to draw a line somewhere. Otherwise, if they let you have a free update then someone who bought it a week before you could claim it's unfair. Then someone who bought it a couple of weeks before him would pipe up and claim he should get a free upgrade too. Then someone who bought it a week before him would....etc etc. Eventually you could follow it back to the first person who bought the very first Maschine that went on sale (i wonder who that is?).

Like i say, you are unlucky that you bought it when you did (i've had the same experience with Reason in the past), but it just happens.

Stick with NI for awhile. Eventually you will get a great deal on something that someone else won't....

The new machine studio looks really nice but unfortunately i feel that $1000 is no where near worth the cost. I guess i'll wait for a sale one day whenever that may be.

I think we should stay positive about this, we are just getting the information about the update now and there are allot of gaps that need to be filled in, the value of the whole package hasn't been reliably determined yet, but there's not long to go before we know the real value the upgrade entails.

I'm in the UK too...and I won't be paying list price. Everywhere is selling it for almost the same price, and it's a high priced item. Ask for a discount! Email a bunch of retailers. Ask for the best price. Seems people don't know they can do that...I always get discounts from the music store I go to.

To be honest, i've gone off the idea of the "Studio" controller. It is very expensive and from what i can see, all the functionality is still available in my MK1 controller, which has a smaller physical foot print in my studio. Also, the way i work, i'm quite happy to look at my computer screen from time to time.

The big things for me are the advances in the software. So i think i'll just pay the €99 and maybe pick up a cheap MK2 controller when people start flogging them off to pay for their new "Studio's". ;)

The quoted US price (which I presume is the recommended retail hence the actual selling price will be cheaper?) is $999

    That's roughly £620

Add 20% VAT that comes to £744 yet the EU price works out roughly £844.

I wonder its more due to the EU consumer laws meaning they have to give much longer warranties etc and manufacturers are factoring that into the end price? If they are, then the consumer laws aren't working as intended and we would be better off with lower prices and the option to extend warranties at a cost.

I don't quite understand the whole "never need to look at the computer screen" thing anyways. No matter how nice those little screens are, it's still going to be easier and more efficient to look at the 27" monitor sitting one foot away. I'm not ashamed to admit I want it just because it looks badass. I will wait for a sale though for sure.

I'm quite happy wiith maschine mk1 on my lap and my laptop next to me or on a little stand at face level, controlling stuff with the knobs with a good visual overview, that's my hi res screen anyway. My desktop monitor is mounted at face level with maschine on a cheapo laptop stand so the screens are angled towards me and it works well. I'd buy a mk2, the price for hi res screens is too high for this enthusiast, i'd buy a studio if i was running a studio as it looks pretty slick and would impress clients.

I'm the same with the whole "no screen" thing - I'd much rather look at a decent PC/Mac screen than a little LED screen unless the design is really good. There's always something I find annoying or missing with the display on the hardware, usually truncated sample/kit names or similar. Push is pretty good but I still find myself looking at the screen for sample/kit selections

1000 for a fancy midi controller, come on NI are you serious? This is starting to look like the MPC Ren initial price fail all over again.
