I agree with you man. It's awesome to be able to keep the plugin off the screen so you can use it for other things. Some people might not know this, but you can actually have different instances of Maschine up in your DAW and you can switch between them from the controller.

Out of curiosity how long after the mk1 did the mk2 come out? I really would love a studio but I tend to wait for awhile. I'm not real fond of being an early adopter. I got that out of my system years ago, now I let others do all the initial struggling and learn from them.

Maybe so, but you can also miss out on a lot of fun while you're waiting....

ah... to have such patience and self control. good for you. i wish i had more.

i think it was a little over three years between the release of the mk1 and the mk2.

Well, I don't find working through bugs and updates fun anymore and I do have a Kronos. My first ever synth, after almost a year now I haven't learned 10% of that beast so I have plenty of fun for now. On the flip side I have downloaded 2.0 I just haven't dug into it yet. Come my tax return I will probably buy the license. I am thinking in the next couple months there will be a new update. As for the 1 k$ controller? Well it calls to me and I am maintaining but I may not make it no three years! I will be more pressed to pick one up if I find a good way to use my mk2 as a controller for logic and my Kronos. Fortunately the longer I wait the easier the wait is. What little I have played with the new software leads me to think it will be a huge leap ahead once the software matures past its toddler and gets out of its diapers!

Completely new user to the Maschine Studio, just got it last week, have poured hours into this instrument everyday. Have learned a ton and have been making all sorts of small tracks. I knew if I got the mikro I'd end up mousing around on my computer and the price difference between this and mk2 wasn't that much. It has been totally worth it - any instrument that engages me to this level = results. I love the screens, I was worried they'd be to small but they're perfect. Also it isn't heavy at all and you can sit cross legged in a couch and play the instrument fine. Love this and I use Reason as a separate DAW. Personally would like to see even more advancement as a sequencer, sampler and performance tool with DAW features way down the list.

Is it worth it...? The thousand dollar question (!)...my take: if they bring it up to speed, Yes. If they simply update it with incremental bug fixes, not so sure. The question I keep asking myself: will they push it to it's maximum potential? And when? Or are they going to focus on putting out more hardware controllers...I've being putting together a list of potential improvements on the hardware and software since I got this thing a few months back. That list is starting to get pretty long. As much as I love the Studio, I am finding myself moving back to Logic more and more...it's just easier to do certain things (working with stems for instance). I also find I prefer the sound quality of Logic. The advantage of Maschine remains the joy of having the hardware controller, and the dance friendly sounds you get with the software. Personally, I'd really like to see Native Instruments push the sound library in a more acoustic direction. But that's just me. I also find it really frustrating that there's no audio in for direct recording-only sampling. There's no arpeggiator. How is that even possible? Ok...enough gripping...bottom line...so far, I have no regrets purchasing Studio. But I need to see some serious improvements in the next updates (sooner rather than later).

God, I pulled out my mk2 after about 2 weeks of playing with the Studio and everything seems so slow! I still love my mk2, but Studio workflow is just amazing. The screens really let me know what's going on.
