Hey guys, lots of info here! trying to follow along as best i can...

I was hoping someone would have some insight into my situation:

I've a bit of money to spend on a gift and i'm really unclear on some things..

i'm looking at max 4 live, bomes, the nativekontrol tc2 thingy (which i would also use the will marshalls dj template). and then was looking at st. joes ableton/maschine template. just getting confused! my brain doesn't sit to well with the technical end of this stuff, so basically I'm looking for something that just 'works' and lets me get on to the music making stuff while at the same time having some 'next level' options.

i have both maschine and apc40, so i don't need one to do what the other can do... any ideas? i'm just a bit over my head and if someone just had a straight ahead suggestion as to what 'add-on' i could use that would take advantage of these two units that would be amazing. thanks for the help

    Maschine or APC40

    Hi everyone, sorry...
Ive tried my own thread and havent really got a response.

Im new here and have been researching ways of controlling Ableton and its effects/vst instruments best. I am running a Macbook Pro, with Ableton as the host/DAW. And using a Lexicon ionix soundcard. I use maschine as my beat maker/production centre.

I have already started setting up Maschine to control Ableton. BUT>>>> Im trying to control much much more. With Mackie control I believe you can set up more controls to control separate effect and trigger looper etc... Just like on an APC40.

My question is... Will maschine do this properly? And How? Is it worth going through all the mapping and hassle? Or should I just let Maschine be Maschine and go and fork out the cash for an APC40? Or is there any other midi controllers out there that people would recommend? See I like the APC40, but Im not into the whole triggering scenes and all that jazz, im sure i might one day, but for now, I just really want an mixing interface that can scroll through and control all the tracks/instruments individually and its effects with plenty of master control. If the APC40 didn't have all pad side, I would already own one. The main thing I would love to control is Abletons loopers. They are amazing. I believe a footswitch can be plugged into an APC40 to control looping etc. Is this possible with the maschine with the midi ins and outs?

I have loop pedals and synths and all this gear that I could prob sell and get myself an APC40 to keep the setup simple. And at maximum control. I love my gear, but I move around allot and think it may be easier to let Ableton do all the work and start using my NI Komplete Pack for instruments etc.

    Any thoughts anyone?

    Thanks

For dedicated controller for Live, nothing beats touchAble. I wouldn't sell your loop pedals and synths just to get the APC40. And since you said, you're not into triggering scenes/clips, the smarter route might be to just use Maschine or get Novation Nocturn and search for guille's script on the Ableton forums. And yes, you can plug a MIDI footswitch into Maschine to control Looper.

a question for forum moderators ...

I know I've ask this before but ... could we have a 'user library' for Maschine templates as we do for X1, Kontakt, Guitar Rig etc ?...

Why trawl through 14 pages of posts to see what mappings are posted?... this seems completely illogical when we have such a good system of 'user libraries' already available for other NI products ...

what's so different about Maschine mappings that they get stuck with this clumsy sticky thread instead?....

    Hello,

i just have a simple question.

In Ableton everthing works fine with Ableshine... controling devices etc.

But in Studio One the normal Mackie template doesnt work i can use transport, tracknames are displayed etc... But i cant select the Vsts or FX.

If i select a Track and hit plug In and go to the V Pot settings it stil controls Pan.

Its not that Important because im using Live over Studio One but its kind of anoying me :)

Hey I'm thinking of making a preset for Sugarbytes Effetrix, to do it like a stepsequencer (as maschine in step mode) but i have really no clue how to do this, can anyone advice some?

To do it like you're describing, Effectrix would need to respond to MIDI for the actual steps, which I don't know if it does.

But you do know that Maschine itself can do what Effectrix does by itself, without needing Effectrix, right?
