Just sold my MPC 2500 for the Maschine and thought this would make for a great thread. Although, we all hope this to be much better than an MPC we will still want to have all the features and functions we're used to. My first question is:

How do you make your program samples play in poly and mono? When I hit the pads I have to hold them instead of them playing the whole sample.

Please post your answers to this and all other questions that people come up with on how to use the Maschine in replacement of your MPC. We can then create a sick Quickstart guide for others who take the plunge.

    Payce and enjoy your Maschine!

    thx kdilla & stephenwolf

will be trying this when i get home. hoping this is the answer to poly and mono like on MPC.

when you have the sample loaded in and you have selected the "sound" and "src" tabs selected, up the left and right arrow keys on the controller until you see the "Pitch/Gate" Options on the left screen. The print above the fourth knob will say "Type" Turn this knob until youve selected the "ADSR" option. On the right screen the four knobs will be labeled Attack Decay Sustain and Release. Set Attack, Sustain, and Release to 0% and decay to 100%. There you go!

just curious why are you guys selling your mpcs, if it's a financial thing I understand
but I'd never sell my mpcs and the maschine and mpcs are different animals?
the 2500 is a sweet machine, none of the bloat but all of the dope.

Yeah Im not sure about selling your MPC for Maschine if you are a true full fledged MPC user (unless you hated sequencing on the MPC). I say use both if you dont have a financial burden. To me its like coppin a workstation keyboard when you already own an MPC......

yeah I didn't sell my mpc to get maschine, I had already stopped using it once I found Live, but Maschine removed my desire to hold onto it, plus I sold it to a friend so I can go bang on it if I get the urge lol

maybe the price of second had MPCs will fall to such an extent that people like me who secretly lusted after them for years, but could never justify the cash layout, can finally buy one

The allure of Maschine for me over an Mpc is simple. I have been enamored with the prospect of arranging beats in a 24-bit domain which isn't a novel concept for software but is sorely lacking in hardware.... For the most part. I couldn't lose the feel of hardware in my workflow, I think drawing beats is wack but I don't knock it. The ease in which I can get crackin on a joint blows me away... In seconds I have all my drums at my fingertips and I can still sample and chop records like
before. The drag and drop audio is a dope way to track out the beats quickly and easily. This eliminates d/a a/d conversion and heightens quality ultimately. The vintage emulations sealed the deal as I sold my Sp1200 and have missed it since, the emulation recreates the nuance of the Sp so accurately it's creepy. I stay on cloud nine wit Maschine, I sometimes wonder what the hell i did before it...

I just got Maschine but to do so I had to sell my mpc 2500. I loved my mpc but I love Maschine even more !

If you can afford to have both then do so, the mpc is good to just get a bit of a break from you're daw and vst's.;)

That's what did it for me. I got tired of hooking up midi cords etc... just to record in to the computer. I was so against the point and click music, that it took me a while to just accept that it's a new day. Plus the chance to keep everything in the box so to speak made it a lot easier to trade ideas with my partner who uses FL, but soon Maschine. But i must be honest it's a little bit of a learning cruve , as i was use to doing things a certain way, but had to relean , just to lean how it's done on the maschine.
I still have my 2000xl, not too sure if I'm going to part with it just yet. :)

mpc1k is solid but i find it somewhat uninspiring as far as my creativity.

build quality is top notch as is the sound quality thank god for jjos or the **** would be unusable.

i suppose if i had jjos2 **** would be quicker to use but not having access to all my sounds when creating became a limitation i was unwilling to put up with.

also the chopping and laying samples across is way slower then the maschine and the tracking out **** also slowed the flow of ideas.

ive always been the kind to use just one main unit cos then i get into a quicker routine i neva had the desire to have two units that do the same thing.

so far the best device ive had is the korg esx1 i sold that after a few years for the mpc and now im moving from the mpc to the mashine.

i dont get the dudes that have an mpc2000 and a 2000xl

i haven't spent more than an hour with my Maschine yet but after the demo i was given i don't see why anyone would need their MPC. i've been an MPC supporter and user for years and actually got a few friends converted from their software setups. even with chop shop or JJ OS XL the chopping features on Maschine are way better and faster. laptop, maschine and an audio interface is all you need.

Yup. Not everyone can afford or desire to own multiple overlapping gear not to mention having enough space. Plus, it's just so much faster to get things done on Maschine.

i see no reason to cling to the past i can get my drum patterns just as nice if not nicer with the maschine.

so why keep both unless u just luv the look and feel of the mpc me personally i neva found that is encouraged the play and creativity that i got from the korg esx in fact id say the 1k was a somewhat boring machine.

:) not knocking maschine by any measure, but in that case all you really need is a set of drums and some friends......

i'm very vexed by maschine and love the mpc, to me they feel completely different
even though they are both drumsamplers, when I hover over the 2500 it feels nothing like hovering over maschine so in my case one is for wedsday and the other for thursday, one is for the computer and the other is for when I don't want to be near the computer. I used to have an mpc-500 and would take it to the beach, sit on the sand and make beats, I will never do that with maschine not that it can't be done just that I don't want my computer anywhere near the sand, they are all different and they sound different as well. maschine sounds like whatever sound card you have, the mpcs sound like their insides da converters I don't see the need to have only one, I think guitarist have it the best they never have to explain having more than one guitar
