so i tried this today and i was able to play maschines different pads automatically when i loaded it as an insert. I didn't need to do this and i'm still unsure as to what this function does.

    Note: this relates to macOS

This is not specific to Maschine but I've been having a lot of fun with it nonetheless.

Recently I have been using my iPad to use Logic Remote to control Logic, so I've had my iPad connected to my Mac a lot more. I didn't realize that if you go to the Audio MIDI setup in macOS you can enable iPad I/O very easily.

So I made an aggregate device with my Apollo and iPad and set the 4th input pair in Maschine to the iPad.

Now I run Spotify on my iPad on a stand at my desk and use it to output audio to sample into Maschine and cut up.

I'm sure this is obvious to some of you but as a recent macOS convert this kind of blew my mind and I'm loving it.

On my windows machine I used to do stuff with loopback devices but I also hate running things in other windows outside the DAW.

A better Live 10 host integration
Although Maschine isn't necessarily a Live controller it can be set up as one. This will allow you to control some parts of Live from behind the Maschine controller whenever Live is running (and the VST isn't loaded). So, for example, you can control the volume for each track, the transport control will control Live, you can select different active tracks, etc.

See also this N.I. support article. Basically, all you need to do is to copy the _NativeInstruments folder and the one which corresponds to your Maschine version, these can normally be found in "\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Host Integration\Ableton Live".

But there's a catch.... every time you upgrade Live it will get re-installed. In other words: the Live program folder gets removed and the new Live setup gets installed. Effectively resulting in you having to re-install these controller scripts. But no more if you're using Live 10.1.13 and up!

Live 10.1.13: A new remote script location!

From Live 10.1.13 and up you can now create a folder called "Remote Scripts" right in your Live user library. The default location for this user library is: This PC => Documents => Ableton => User Library. But you can also create this folder in Live itself:

    upload_2020-5-6_22-26-45.png

If you place the previously mentioned remote scripts in this new folder (see also my screenshot above for an example) then you will never have to bother yourself with this after you upgraded Live. Simply because a Live upgrade will never mess with your user library.

For me this really is a live safer because Live doesn't exactly upgrade very often and thus I always forget the right location for these script folders. Eventually I'll find them by digging around in Program Files but it's always quite a hassle. Well.... not anymore!

I know it's been a while since 10.1.13 got released (February 2020) but I never immediately upgrade just to make sure I don't run into weird glitches. Still hope this can be useful for some of you!

Once you have selected a scene from the keyboard, you can press Shift-Button 2 (Unlabeled) to return to Arranger mode in the software.

Here's a tip of mine for anyone that does frequency splitting in a daw and needed a way of performing this in standalone.

Set up one pad to be the low split (EQ / LP filter), another as the high split (EQ / HP filter), and a third to be the summing bus of the previous 2 by setting their channel outputs to the summing bus.

Load a sample to a pad and set the channel output to nothing, and use the two available sends at 0db to the low & high split channels. You should get sound through the pair, culminating in both being sent to the sum.

At this stage, go nuts... Distort, modulate, verb, delay the high passed channel without affecting your sub. This can be split into a 3 band in a similar manner by diverting the sound to two unaffected pads before sending to the filtered pads.

    I hope this makes sense!

    Hi,
I did this for a Group Multi FX that mimicks RC-20s behaviour (XLN Audio Lo-fi Plugin) and it works fine, but when I was thinking that you could use the same setup to build a little multiband compressor I was starting to worry about crossover frequencies and how to handle that. Do you know anything about that?

Unfortunately the only way to truly avoid any phase issues, and have a completely clean signal at the crossover points, would be to use phase inversion. This is the same method I use in Ableton when splitting frequencies, and it definitely works without any colouration of the source.

I've yet to delve into custom Reaktor patches, but I am hoping that some basic utilities like a phase invert can be created for use on standalone. But to be honest, sometimes it can impart some interesting effects if you get the crossover in a sweet spot.

In addition to this, to control the crossover frequency of both filters, set both HP and LP to the same frequency to start, then select both pads before sweeping it to where you want it.

This is technically another tip, that you can control multiple parameters across multiple pads by selecting them before changing them. I usually use this if I want to change the pitch of all chops in a group at the same time.

Hello everyone, I have the following problem since my upgrade to Komplete 13 UCE. As soon as I want to load a project, I get the error message shown in the photo. (The three photos are only examples. In total, it has occurred in 31 projects so far.) Has anyone had this problem before and can help me. Thank you.

(Everything is activated via Native Access.)

This thread is more about sharing tips & tricks, not necessarily asking for help. Its probably better to start your own thread and ask in there because that's bound to attract more attention (people expect to get tips in here).

For what's it worth: "Hands up" is not a product that's included with Komplete 13 UC, so what kind of instrument / preset are you trying to use? I have 4 different "Hands up" presets in my Maschine browser which makes it difficult to narrow this down. And I don't have anything matching "Koala jams".

So what instrument / library are you using here? And what kind of preset are you trying to load?

First of all, sorry. i thought i was doing it right here. next time i'll know better. Thanks for replying anyway and trying to help me. as i just found out, the Koala Jams is a project that belongs to the Maschine 2 factory selection. this was apparently deactivated by the upgrade though. the entire factory selection can no longer be used and activated.

Auch, that's bad, Maschine without its stock library is quite limited....

So.. has this worked before, and if so: what changed in the mean time? Are you using the Maschine software with a controller or stand alone? Also... was that a new controller or a used one?

And finally, if you check your list of serials does that include a mention of the factory library (with serial number)?

Reason I ask: the factory library is usually tied to the controller; so buy the controller and you automatically get the library as well (though it's also part of some versions of Komplete). And if you have an active license it should be listed there.

I own NI Kontrol S4 MK3, Maschine 2 MK3, Kontrol S49 and complete 12 UC since 2020. All new. Recently I have only upgraded to complete 13 UC. Before everything ran without problems. Serial numbers are all listed and shown as activated. Since everything worked before, I assume that it is due to the upgrade.

That's a really sweet & impressive setup, congrats! Definitely a solid base for some good audio!

It shouldn't be. I had Maschine Mk3 (+ Mikro) together with 12UC and the upgrade didn't disrupt anything.

So I've done some research and came across this support article which explains the issue. Make sure that this can't be caused by obvious issues such as using another NI account in Native Access then you did on the website, or maybe mixing up libraries (factory selection vs. factory library). I doubt this is the case, but it's important to keep it in mind.

If you haven't tried this already then try to start the Maschine software stand alone first, so not within a DAW. See if that makes any difference.

If not then here's what I'd do: de-install the Maschine library & software. Go to Windows start menu, click the cogwheel to get to the settings, check out the 'apps' section and search for "Maschine" (without the ""):

    upload_2021-3-5_16-3-2.png

Once everything is removed try rebooting the PC (this part is probably unneeded), start Native Access and check what happens next. Install the software and library and then begin by starting the Maschine software standalone, so don't fire it up as a VST just yet. Check what happens.

If this doesn't work then I think you're going to need to open a ticket with NI support.

    (edit)

Here I am assuming everyone is using Windows again...

Oh well, one day I'll finally learn, honest! :D
