This is what I think is going to happen: After the latest Traktor update and now that they integrated Komplete with Maschine, the missing link is integrating Maschine with Traktor with Maschines 'new' (V2) sequencer, timestretch etc.
Then the circle will be ended. It would be stupid of them not to. I'm sure I'm not the first one to think this, but It feels like I can not wait anymore. I'm really looking forward to this new workflow :) The perfect studio and live setup! Can you ask for more?

Why yes. Yes I can ask for more. How about just getting those basic features incorporated into Maschine without NI trying to hawk me yet another piece of their kit.

forgive me, but you have a very traditional view as to what djing is.

Traktor is about DJing, but now it will be more about live performance with the remix decks rather than mixing 2-4 tracks.

I'd like to think that all of this 'trying too hard' applies to Maschine as well.

I don't think they are trying hard at all. The path seems very natural to me. And it is showing they know what people are looking for. As a dj an producer it is a perfect solution if they can make it happen. I love to play my own productions, beats and sounds mixed with others tracks live. And if they integrate this good enough it is going to be a killer.

The latest update for Traktor is really great. A simple solution for people like me.
It is not overwhelmed with tons of extra features. It will be easier getting your ideas out spontaneously. I think Ableton Live sucks for this. And If they integrate Maschine to Traktor with the tightest syncronisation it is going to make my live situation not jus more fun, but easier too.

Of course it would be great if they fix the Maschine problems/ wishes too. As I mentioned timestretch, better sequencer that you can record live into with mutes and solos etc. (my wishes). Some time ago I actually suggested a similar solution to Maschine that they've implemented to the latest Traktor update.

On the other side I don't really understand why some of you are so angry/ whining. We all knew exactly what Maschine was capable of when we bought it, didn't we? I understand that it is different times now, because when I started out with my s-330 sampler with 2x7.2 seconds of 16 bit sample memory back in the days, I didn't know there was samplers capable of more. I had accept it an work with what I got. But now we all know the possibilities and we know that certain companies speculate in holding back features. Is that why you are so angry? To me NI always have been a company that not have been speculating in that manner. Anyway, we got all those crazy new features for free. And sure there will be more updates for free. You always got a choice if you want to be a part of it or not. I will!

everyone dj's differently. Probably most people just want to play song after song.
but I have seen many turntablists creating a whole new song by juggling to decks with no extras buttons... traktor is just expanding the possibilities ...

i know it's wack that they are not giving us anything, but all we can do its wait n c if it works or sucks.

This is a common retort on this forum; 'You knew what you were getting before you bought it'. How many people really study the manual before purchasing? I knew what I was getting with Maschine to a point but it's only after owning it that you realise its limitations. My main gripe is the lack of multicore support and the fact that the sampler mode has a very basic feature set, especially when compared to Kontakt. NI are very good at marketing and the Komplete integration is a great way of pushing their other products. I have no problem with this but not when it's at the expense of getting those basic features that everyone has been asking for (over, and over again) sorted. I've already spend alot of money with NI (Kore, Komplete and Maschine) - I really have no interest in Traktor. I don't begrudge it getting all these performance features but not when Maschine seems to be currently getting neglected.

For the record I actually really like NI and think Maschine is great but doesn't mean that I'm going to wave the flag like some of the evangelists on here. There are issues and without challenging them nothing will change.

Who else do you suggest should take responsibility for the purchasing decisions you make?
    ---
I'm confused by the belief that NI updating a profitable 10 year old product with a massive revenue stream somehow has a detrimental effect on the development of a seperate, yet still profitable product. A corporation with 15 years experience of developing multiple product ranges can concentrate on one more than one thing at a time.

I'm not blaming anyone for my 'purchasing decisions', just that it's difficult to know about every single nuance of a product before you actually take charge of it. Maybe I was stupid to assume it would have multicore support in this day and age. I don't regret buying Maschine just pointing out that it needs improving.

This quote (from another thread) sums it up for me..

I own both Battery and Kontakt and it really frustrates me that some of the basic features that exist in both of these programs are missing from Maschine - it's just so short-sighted (having owned them well before Maschine I was surprised at some of the absences). Now we're seeing some new sampling features being introduced in Traktor when surely these should be prioritised within Maschine. Again, I don't begrudge Traktor getting these features AT ALL, I just wish NI wouldn't spread the features so thin between all the products.

So what exactly are these 'sampling features' that Traktor is getting that are missing from Maschine?
    ---
I take on board what you and Sowari are saying, I'm just not sure how many features NI's £275 groovebox are going to cannibalise from their £140 Battery or £320 Kontakt products (aside from timestretching).

the gun that you a riding by telling people its their fault for their purchasing decision related to maschine...

why in the world would you give traktor those features and make the controller like that... as it seems now we would be better off with the traktor controller and using the maschine software...

all that people want has been implemented into the software that shouldnt... I personally think that traktor is the best digital dj system out, but they are going insane over this product now... Just leave it how it was , and how it was intended to be used.. to mix tracks. to dj... not get into some futuristic groove box thing... thats why you created maschine Ni, and thats why we purchased it...

I agree that NI should be putting priority into Maschine with some basic features found on other NI products. Timestretch, the scrolling cursor, some of Battery's sample editing features etc. I don't want NI morphing Maschine and Traktor, nor do I want the production features I need that should be in Maschine in the first place, spread across multiple separate products.

    very true b-righteous...

I just cant understand why they would make these controllers for....

A better way to go about it would be to get ppl into the world of maschine and having maschine totally link up with traktor...

Its like they reversed the process, I don't get it

The Traktor remix deck is just a sample player. Serato has one, VDJ has one. The app on my iPhone has one, my ancient UREI mixer has one too. It's not an uncommon thing in the DJ world.
