Yes, I have a MBP with USB 3.0 and I can confirm that the Maschine works perfectly.

It doesn't play nicely with the USB 3 ports on my desktop -- that much is for sure.

All of the problems I had with Maschine in every USB 3 port were resolved by switching to a USB 2 port.

It worked, but the LCD screens and pad colors would glitch out momentarily with large projects and/or when playing quick (32nd) notes.

My rMBP early 2013 plays fine with maschine mk2, never a glitch, I do run 16gig of ram though 2.8GHz i7 quad core if that make a difference. As i understand it both my usb ports are 3.0.

Salem Beats I am no computer pro but wonder could it be more of a problem with bus speed or memory then the actual usb3? Just curious..

My desktop (not trying to start an e-peen comparison - you asked):

    Asus P9X79LE
    i7 3930K 6-Core @ 3.2GHz
    16GB RAM, Quad-Channel @ 1600MHz

The maximum memory bandwidth (51.2GB/s) is twice that of the current 4770K Haswell flagship (25.6GB/s).
It's a beast -- Suffice to say that the specs are fine. It's about as powerful as the i7 lineup gets. Memory latency and bandwidth are fantastic.

The problem is just a driver/firmware issue with how some USB3 chipsets handle "legacy" USB2 traffic -- NI has officially acknowledged this problem and generally recommends using native USB2 ports with their USB2 devices. You'll see this a lot in their product FAQs.

It seems that the USB3 ports from the MBPs are fine. I was responding to the title of the question (compatibility with USB3) rather than the content of the question (compatibility with the MBP's particular ports).

Hey no problem I was just curious and appreciate the info. I never had a reason to read the facts. Your reply brings up a good point though, about reading the facts before a purchase. I have rarely done this. Personally I don't check facts unless I have a problem, the only thing I check is compatibility with my OS, having lost the use of my firebox because of an OS update and learning the company has decided not to support it now makes me more cautious. Thanks for the reply that sounds like a smokin computer! Certainly wasn't trying to start an e-peen war! Suppose I'm showing my age a bit but I had to think about what and e-peen was for a bit never, saw that verbiage before. Certainly explains why a lot of posts go the way they go. I wonder if 2.0 will take care of any remaining USB 3 issues?

Back on topic, it looks like the OP should be ok then. Thanks again!
