I don't know if you can midi controllers to maschine software so. Can't help you with that but why do you want an extra keyboard ?

im attempting to play out my melodies with the keyboard instead of the pad... just for a better feel, but im trying to use both at the same time. and its a usb mpk, under midi, device name only mikro shows up. im sure there is something i need to do first before maschine recognizes a usb keyboard

this seems to be a presistant problem with akai mpk minis .... go figure a whole store full of key boards and i choose the one that doesnt work. ive seen solutions where it only will work with windows 7 ( which i have ) or wont work with logitec cams (which i dont have) ,... so at this time i am stumped, most of the time if i plug it in it does absolutely nothing... SO WTF AKAI? if a product doesnt work then take it off the shelf .. now i have to return this pos keyboard

I was having trouble with getting this to work as well but if you havent returned it yet maybe try this...

When installing the MPK editor, save it to your desktop so its easily found...Plug in the MPK before opening the editor once its installed. If it "Powers up", you are in bizness. Most of the stuff I read about MPK Mini's are that the USB ports can be weak and easily damaged but if your getting power you should be ok...

then open the editor by clicking the shortcut icon on your desktop first...Choose MPK MINI in the first pop up box then minimize the MPK editor window...

open Maschine and go to "Audio and MIDI settings" >"Midi" tab and you should see the MPK in the list, if not then your not getting any USB info transfer, but when you plug it in your computer should notify you that the device is detected...

Heres where the trick comes...you have to close out the editor window in order for Maschine to be able to enable the MPK Mini...the instructions that come with the MPK are crap and dont tell you this, it actually says you have to have the editor window up for the MPK to be recognized.

I contacted support from NI and Akai and neither had any help for me and that took like 3 weeks to get any response from either one of them, one quick call to my cousin who works at GC and bam!... fixed issue-->close editor window
So simple yet so annoying...Hope this helps
