    Hello NI Forum

This is my first post so sorry if this has been covered previously

Yesterday I tried running Maschine 2.2 in Stand alone and using soundflower to route the audio to Ableton 9 (I'm using mac osx 10.9)

Everything worked as expected except when I'd hit the stop button on the APC40 it would trigger a sound slot in Maschine.

Is there a way to tell Maschine to ignore other MIDI messages except itself? Even when MIDI Sync is on? (maschine as the slave)

for now I'm just recording arrangements in Ableton but ideally I'd like to use Maschine stand alone as well as Ableton to play my music live.

I'm not 100% sure this will work yet but.......My vision is to use my Maschine studio hardware to switch between Stand alone, the Ableton template and a user template to play ableton sounds and instruments. Ableton as the master and Maschine as the slave. so as you can see this issue is kind of the end of that idea unless there are other things I cant foresee.

Any insight would be most help helpful.

    Thanks

    welcome to the Maschine Forum!

firstly. i suggest you update to Maschine 2.3

if you are using Maschine Standalone, there are MIDI Preferences, so you can choose which MIDI Controllers are On or Off.

out of interest, why are you not using machine as a plugin inside Ableton Live?

Thanks I knew the MIDI tab but didn't realize you could click the on to off. Thanks

Are there still issues with working with multiple tracks 2.3?

like I really like to use the cmd+A to highlight a whole group and adjust volume and stuff. I was taught it's best to keep the master of your daw at 0. I do that in Maschine as well as set the group to zero and adjust the sound volume. I'll set the cue volume low, fine the sounds for my group, then cmd+A to turn down everything. that way I can listen to my tracks in Ableton and use Maschine and a great browser for little sounds to add.

I'll do some simple arrangements of loops in maschine but mostly in Ableton is where I work. So to finally answer your question I never quite grasp'd the Maschine as a plug in and I'm not sending MIDI to Maschine other than to start and stop if I have a sequence in Maschine to sync that to my project. Otherwise I just pick sounds I like one day and splash my arrangement in ableton straight to audio.

My friend are teaching me and I've still a lot to learn but this is how I've got it to work. I started on an Electribe EMX-1. I treat it in a similar way into Ableton to make my music. The only difference is I use soundflower to get Maschine's sound into Ableton. I'll probably only do this in the studio and "Live" I was thinking I could have Ableton out 1/2 on my Audio 8 Dj and Maschine 3/4 or vise versa. I'd use only a Maschine studio controller and be able to play my arrangement in Ableton while using Maschine to solo and to do one shot's or finger drumming.

i still do not really understand what you mean by 'issues with working with multiple tracks 2.3'.

i use Scene in Maschine and trigger the Scenes from 'Program Changes' in Ableton.
