Maschine will not play when the external midi sync is active.

Even with no midi cable plugged into Maschine it will not play when the 'sync to external midi clock' is selected.

Why is this? I want to play in step mode, sync'd to TPro.

External MIDI sync is exactly that- external. You need to either:

    1) run a MIDI cable between another interface and the Maschine controller, with TPro's MIDI clock being sent from the other interface, or
    2) use a virtual MIDI cable between the apps.

    Hey,

Just some useful info incase anybody has issues pertaining to external midi sync on a mac regarding "a virtual MIDI cable" running between apps. Keeping in mind I have never done this before.

Again, SFLogicNinja has got a lot a great videos on youtube. He uses Logic Pro, but you can apply what he has to say to pretty much anything.

In this linked video he explains how and why you would want to setup a "virtual MIDI cable" in your Audio MIDI Setup.

I hope you find this of use.

Does anybody use Maschine and TPro with a Xone 4D

Right, made some temporary progress on this. Thanks to everyone who has helped so far, I'm not done with you yet. I feel like proper filthy slut posting so many topics to try and solve this problem.

I thought that Maschine on the laptop did not know where the midi signal was coming from, because I could not see the Xone 4D in the midi in section of Maschine. I therefore decided to download the drivers for the Xone 4D onto that Mac. I then restarted the Mac and then Maschine was sync'd to TPro.

I do not know how I triggered Maschine to play when sync'd to TPro. I also was unable to sync the beats to stay sync'd due to slight drift - is this becasue I actually have 2 midi outs from the 4D? One bpm midi out from TPro and then another midi out from the bpm counter on the Xone 4D?

When I re-opened Maschine I was unable to get it to sync to TPro again. Mind boggling!

Ideas or suggestions? Going to post this on the TPro or Maschine forum section as well to try and get help here.
