Maschine+ with a powerbank. Here's how.

I have run my M+ with Maschine Jam and M32 keyboard attached using a power bank and myvolts usb cable. Everything works as normal so the whole rig is completely portable.

Had completely forgotten about the JAM. Just did a test.

With the JAM attached, and a project playing which uses above 40% CPU, the M+ is constantly drawing more than 10W. Which is close to exceeding the MyVolt Ripcord power specifications.

BTW, the specs are not clear: The website and packaging says 15V with 12W max, while the adapter on the cord itself is labelled with 15V 0.6A max 9W.

I'd rather not do that, because it means that you are constantly under powering your equipment.

While under powering analog gear generally is safe and might lead to pleasing sonic results, it will lead to "interesting" unpredicatble behavior of digital devices. Just be aware of that, before you complain about Maschine+ being unstable and losing your best work.

can you guys check, I noticed a high frequency noise out of machine+ when it's powered with ripcord and powerbank. No such nice when it's wall powered.
I tried three different power banks and the results are the same. scratchy high freq noise, it comes from upper right corner, where DC plug is

I think you might have been tricked there due to the advertisement use of mWh instead of mAh; my power bank is 20000mAh and lasts for like 9 hours of continuous playing a project with 75% CPU usage. I don't know much about electrical stuff but 5 hours is very little for the price you paid, then again the exact use case can also change the power consumption.

    Regarding this observation:

I contacted MyVolts and asked about the discrepancy of the power ratings. This was their answer:

    Interesting product!

You still need some kind of adapter: Either the Ripcord for the USB-A output or the original M+ power adapter for the AC output which would better but add weight.

Original psu for sure. The point is avoid issues, weight is secondary IMO if M+ glitches due ripcord precisely...

I saw that on your channel, and thought it was overkill to go up to 110 vac and then back down to 15vdc but it seems to work and you could probably brew a cup of coffee at the same time!

There are lots of powerpacks with direct DC out, are people using the ripcord just to save money?
Seems like the extra money may get a much more robust powering set up.

There are quite few specifically for laptops which offer sufficient power over a USB-C connection, but unfortunately not that many which cover 15V 3.0 A over a DC cable. It‘s an uncommon power requirement.

And those power banks which offer variable DC output with sufficient current, are often very expensive (> 150 €).

Hey everyone - First off, this is amazing and glad to see such a strong community of users willing to help.

Can someone verify/answer the following questions? This is based off of reading the thread:

    - Long story short, the compatible Ripcord + Power bank that has at least a 12V output should work well and safely as long as you aren't connecting additional devices (like maschine jam or another midi device). Is there any risk to using a power bank that has 9V?
    - The ripcord + power bank idea is a way to potentially save some money and space vs finding a power bank with an AC connection and using the power adaptor included with maschine
    - If space and the additional spend on an AC compatible power bank aren't a concern, are you better off simply going that route over the ripcord + power bank idea? I'm speaking in regards to risk aversion - is it "safer" to go that route.

    Thank you all again!

    Nick

New to the game guys! Just got my Maschine Plus yesterday. Been reading everything I can about power banks. I've got a few long flights in the near future and want to have the Maschine on the the plane and the beach. Anyway, I'm looking at the following products and just wanted to get any feedback anyone may have...

    Cord - https://www.amazon.com/2-Pack-JacobsParts-Type-C-Trigger-Connector/dp/B08NTTK8S9?th=1

    Power Bank - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08LG2X98F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

-Edit- I think I like this Power Bank Better. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0892KJ2D...ref_=pd_luc_rh_ci_mcx_mr_huc_d_02_02_t_img_lh

These products have two advantages. Both on Amazon so I wont have to worry about fraud alerts on my credit card and they are both IN STOCK! lol That seems to be an actual problem these days...

Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

    PS First post!

Honestly, I know it's overkill, but I've used it to start my old car... power a bass amp during a power outage for 2hours... and run lights during a power outage. I still want a more compact solution for M+ though!

I’m using this exact trigger cable and it works.

IMO this will not work because:
    - it seems to offer only 5V, there’s no mention of the PD 15V feature
    - With 18W (1.2A) you may under power your M+, the original power supply offers 40W (2.66A)

Appreciate the feedback! If you don't mind me asking, which power bank are you using?

I'd also love to hear the recommendations for the best power banks out there, as well as other options for the trigger cable (can't find the Jacobs or Ripcord ones in Canada)
