    Hey,
Just bought a maschine mikro and my idea is to use it as a plug-in in Pro Tools 9. For example I select a drumkit in maschine and want to record it on a track in Pro tools. The problem is that nothing gets recorded (midi). When I use the maschine controller to control other software synths it works and it creates midi notes. Any idea what the problem could be?

    OK, thanks!

    In protools:

    Created instrument track

    Opened Maschine

    Loaded 909 kit

    In Maschine:

    Sound Midi batch set up

    Sound to midi notes

    Midi Channel 1

    Root note C3

now all of the sounds are coming out of the channel, just not recording....

if you want to record into Pro Tools you need to go into MIDI Mode on the Controller by pressing SHIFT + CONTROL on your Maschine Controller.

you also need to use the Group buttons to change the octaves. i think Group Button E
will work with C3 - try D if it is too high.

in the Pro Tools MIDI Input Devices - found under Setup->MIDI - make sure that the Maschine MIDI Inputs are enabled.

lastly, make sure the Pro Tools Instrument's Record button is enabled.

    MAC. Yes they do.

I'm going to step away from this method and just stick to using them separately. I've spent 4hrs today (about a total of 20 hours this week) fiddling, watching youtube vids, reading forums and nothing has worked.

thanks for all your help. I saw another thread where you tried to help a user with aux and midi tracks to record midi (saw the wink sounds vid), tried that as well with machine controller and no dice. Levels go up and down but no sounds come out. My midi controller has worked well, maybe need to get a controller with pads(?).

It would be nice to do all of your music creation at once but that's not really possible right now. I've tried that midi option before and ran into similar problems. There are other ways to use Maschine with Pro Tools. I'm in music production school so I need every sound separated as a track. I always start my projects in Maschine and export the audio to Pro Tools. If I need to fill in more sounds then I just create an audio track and use Maschine/Kontakt as a plug-in and record. Works flawlessly. Just Youtube Maschine Export Audio to Pro Tools.

Not sure how Pro tools handles midi out from rtas plug-ins but you can try this video on how to set it up in Cubase if PT has a similar setup. This would allow you to record to protools without needing to flip to control mode.

You probably just forgot to use the group button to change octaves in midi mode to transpose what key you are triggering with the pads. In midi mode each group plays a different set of pitches.

as far as i know, you can't do this in Pro Tools - you need to flip into MIDI Mode.
