What is Maschines sequencer set-up? From the videos i have seen i can't really work it out. Is it like Flstudio, while simple is really a PITA for making up songs due having to have a new track just for some small fill or something, that really is ****. Some people have likened it to Ableton Live. Live is ok but making edits in the Arrange page has great potential but is sorely lacking in functionality. Or has it more in common with linear sequencers?

Maschine's sequencer reminds me alot of Ableton's Session view. Hard to explain, maybe I can make a video later...

I have seen it move through the "scenes" like a progress bar but does it automatically move to the next one or just cycle? If it moves to the next scene doesn't that make it sort of linear sets of blocks? Or have i got it all wrong?

Not sure if i'm using the term "scene" correctly either..

you can have it run linear through the scenes or you can select the order on the fly live

If you copy A1 to A2 do they automatically become mutually exclusive? That's sort of what i ment by linear.

you can do this and then made a variation in A2.

then use Scenes to select A1 or A2.... Scene 1 could play A8 from Group A and A1 from Group B and Scene 2 could play A 5 from Group A and A2 from Group B.

if you see what i mean?

And to get all scenes to play, while in scene mode, hold the first one and then press the last one...

I've been planning on making a video demonstrating scenes for a while...I should have time tomorrow! I'll post a link...it's pretty simple to do but i don't remember any videos focusing much on it.

Hmm i think i see, so you can play any block in any order at any time? I'm now not sure of all the terminology in Maschines sequencer. Is there somewhere i could see it simplified?

No the scenes play in the order you lay them out unless you manually pick which scene to play next.

I think i'm confusing myself a bit, due to massive dumbness i expect. But what is the hierarchy in Maschine, from a single sample to global?

Each group consists of 16 sounds.

You can make up to 64 patterns with the 16 sounds of group A. You can make up to 64 patterns with the 16 sounds of group B. You can make up to 64 patterns with the 16 sounds of group C. Etc.

A scene combines one of the 64 patterns from group A with one of the 64 patterns from group B with one of the 64 patterns from group C, etc.

You can create up to 64 scenes. A scene can be a unique combination of patterns, but it can also be identical to another scene.

A song is the arrangement of scenes.
