    Hi all,
I just purchased Kontact and after downloading the 1.2.1 update I am having a serious polyphony problem.
If I load the grand Piano sample set that came with Kontact , hold down the sustain pedal, then start playing some notes, After I hit about 20 or less notes, I get a major static sound and the audio engine dies for a second ( in standalone) when used as a plugin in Sonar 3 ( both DXi and wrapped VSTi) the same thing happens and the audio engine of the sequencer stalls .

DFD is enabled. Not sure what to tweak to make this work. All other softsynths I have work excellent. Latency is not to low ( 11.6 msec ASIO 2) HELP!!

i recommend you to try without the DFD and if it works go to DFD options and change them from normal to hi performance or the other way around if you got hi performance selected
    cheers

    new DFD?

I see there is a new DFD update but states it is for 1.5 ( DFD1.2.4)
Should this work for 1.2.1 as well? Should I download this and apply it?

    TIA

    more info

I have uninstalled 1.2.1 and installed right from the download instead of upgrading. No difference

I have turned DFD off, still craps out.

I have changed latency, still no better.

About to converse with NI at this point. Anyone have another idea?

    ARGHHH!!!

Kontact is causing Creamware cards to lose word clock!!!

How can this be? what is going on?

The problem is that after a few seconds of playing , Creamware cards wordclock seems to slip, once it returns, all is fine for another few seconds. How can a plugin mess with a cards CLock?

    Help needed badly

I highly recommend to move directly from 1.2.x to 1.5. I am using Kontakt since nearly one year and I *always* had trouble with DFD (e.g. large pianos).

With 1.5 all these problems finally have been disappeared. One important hint: Kontakt 1.5 works as expected *after* removing all previous installations, deleting all related sub-directories (except for presets) and cleaning the registry *before* installation of 1.5.

Since about two weeks now Kontakt for the first time is exactly doing what I have expected since I bought it :).

    Ok thanks,

I have my " Grace period" forms submitted as of last night, hopefully I will get 1.5 next week.

    Let us know

Please post the outcome when you get the upgrade )
I have the same symptoms also with Pulsar although I wouldn't have known it was wordclock related.(

It only started after upgrading to SX2 (or since I started monitoring through S/PDIF ???).

With me the problem occurs in SX when the VST channel is >0db.

    [edit]
BTW. This a problem I don't expect to have to pay to get fixed.

Will do, will take about a week to get the PS but I will update this thread when it arrives.

FWIW, I also monitor through SP/dif but while testing this problem, had totally disconnected it and used the analog pulsar outs so as to eliminate that problem. Can you install motherboard monitor on your box and see what the +5 volt rail is reading?

According to Asus PC Probe the motherboard 5V rail is reading between 5.05V and 5.02V.

I guess you saw that thread about this too. The guy upgraded his power supply because it was reading below 4.7. Can't remember where now.

With my system I don't even have to play notes. If the the VST channel is above 0dB I get a loud squawk after a few seconds. Like a deep feedback which kills the audio. Sometimes the sound is out of hearing range but I see all the meters go up.

do you have Pulsar set to slave off the SP/dif, or the device it is hooked to slave to pulsar. Have you tried the other way around?

Your problem sounds more SP/dif related to me as your power is obviously not a problem.

SP/dif can be a PITA if the devices chained together don't like to play nice.

I removed S/PDIF from the Pulsar project altogether and monitored analog but still got the problem.

As for the power supply thing I don't see why it would only affect Kontakt.

There's some kind of feedback going on with Kontakt. Putting the meter over 0dB sets it off. If the meter's just a fraction over you can see the signal building up slowly at first until it freaks out completely.

I don't want to hijack your thread but it may yet be the same problem.
Let's see what the upgrade brings.

It's not just Kontact, Media player dies here as well.

Strangly, I can stream >32 tracks of audio and a plethra of softsynths and FX and have been for a while with no problems at all.
    Strange

I always just assumed that there was something wrong with media player and never imagined it was hardware related since my sequencer was having no problems.

    go figure
