Hi,

Is it possible to do this purely in knobman?

[/IMG]

I download the file on this forum by 'Herw' with the ableton-style dials. But when i export them out of knobman the green fill is a broken intermittent white, and there is no alpha.

I'm really stuck on this, can anyone help?

Cheers.

yes, but it requires layers.
i'll be uploading some knobs in the near future that can change between 100 colors, has a dynamic label that can change at will, has the dial markers like in massive, and automation like in massive. it requires 4 or 5 knobman files with alpha layers piled on top of each other, all controlled by an overly complex mouse area macro.

in fact the one you posted is just a bi knob, with 0 at the center instead of at the far left. that's really easy, but i assume you want it to be more complex than that?

Wow what you are making sounds pretty amazing!

But for the moment I was thinking of having 3 seperate 'mouse xy' thingies like in 'proton7' 1 for each mod type.

both the mod env and key/vel only need to be bi with 0 at center. The lfo i was just going to have it the same, cos i really dont know how to make it go both ways at once.

Each 1 of course being bigger than the last. I looked in proton7 and the rings are 3 seperates with transparent backgrounds.

Can you help with that please?

to make a simple bi-directional marker, just make a circle object (NOT a circle fill) and set it to the color and width of your choosing. then open the mask tab and click mask enable 1. the default values are mostly fine, just change the start to 0, and set the finish to go from -140 to 140.

are you trying to make your own files or use somebody else's?
i don't understand what that link is even to, since i can't find anything from herw on that page.

;)

it'll be a little annoying to get 3 stacked on top of each other but it's certainly possible.

So as you can see there is some misalignment.

Do i correct this by the image output size or from the zoom in knobman?

Ok i'm definitely in a good place now. Thanks, cos i really didnt have a clue about how to use knobman.

But I have now found that no matter how many animations i have the mid-point has a graphical value, ie when centred there is still some marker visible.

Is that unavoidable?

Also i managed to do the type where it goes both ways at the same time from the centre. But is it possible to make 1 direction a different colour to the other?

to get rid of the marker at the center, use an odd number of frames.

to change colors, you can click on 'frame mask enable' in the mask tab, and make it visible from 0 to 50%. then make another identical object, change the color, and then set it to be visible from 50 to 100%.

Ah cunning (like a fox), thanks. wow i didnt realise knobman was so good.

But now im trying to get my head around specifically the lfo mod which is bipolar neg+pos like massive.

So with positive mod the right hand side is say green and the left is grey. but then conversely with negative mod the right hand side is grey and the left green.

So is that possible also with knobman?

If not then i guess i could have two different knob anims:
left grey/right green
left green/right grey

and use a compare module for selecting between them depending on whether pos or neg mod is applied?
---
EDIT: Oh I did it. I just blundered my way into the answer. knobman rocks

Cheers!

So how about straight lines?

I made a test one but it is very short. I tried making the output images higher in width and i also used the maximum line length but it is way too short.

How do you make a long line?

yes one of the problems with knobman is it assumes a square image for certain things, the line is among them. if you're going to have one at a 90 degree angle it can only be as long as the height of the image or something silly like that.

often i'll use a rectangle and use the aspect variable to change it into more of a line.

yes you're right. I found a thread at kvr where people upload various examples and managed to find one with something i can use.

As you say it was a rectfill with aspect and things.

Cheers.
