The "Massive" ensemble in Reaktor 5 is brilliant, but I've been unable to get it to co-operate in Pro Tools HD 6.9 - it instantly runs out of CPU power. I'm guessing that this problem is related to Digi's small buffer sizes, but I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and can suggest a workaround. It's very frustrating having to work in standalone mode!

I turn down the sample rate, and turn it back up when I want to bounce to track.

Just wondering if you were able to solve this problem, as I am running into the same thing. Oddly enough, if I run Reaktor outside of Pro Tools, they both work fine, even with with my session playing back. Seems that there is a problem when using rewire. Also i've found that Reaktor is using %10 higher CPU time on my Dual 2Ghz G5 than my P4 3Ghz. I would have expected just the opposite . . . I am actually able to run any Reaktor patch within Pro Tools LE on my P4, whereas my G5 HD 6.9 system can handle only a couple of them.

in the protools menus somewhere, i think its under playback engine or hardware or something, you can adjust buffer sizes and CPU usage. turn the CPU usage up to 95 percent. maybe turn up the buffer a little. good luck.

Ya, I tried that, it didn't make a difference. Had the buffer maxed, and CPU set to %95, and tried a bunch of other combinations. The only way i've been able to get reaktor to run is to use very simple ensembles, that use under %10 CPU. It seems rediculous. I think I'm just going to run Reaktor outside of Pro Tools, and recorded it back in, because that runs just fine!

I have the same problem, I'm assuming this is part of the fix in 5.1?

Just installed the update, most stuff is still refusing to play back at all, this is on a Dual 2.5Ghz G5. I've tried various settings in Protools with no luck.

Currently PT 7 HD, running under 10.4.3 but I had prety much the same problem on the dual 1Ghz G4 running 10.3.x and PT 6.9.

Affects some ensembles more than others, CPU doesn't actually appear to go very high on the CPU meter in PT or Protools but I get the dialgo box anyway.

is that the latest version of PT?

please remind me what is not working properly, and name ensembles etc, etc. be very specific.

Ok - I load a new Protools session (7 is the latest version), load Steampipe or Carbon for example, hit play and instantly get a dialog box from protools complaining about the CPU.

Oki Computer.ens plays more okay more frequently.

Often it works the first couple of times after loading the session but once the error message starts to appear there's nothign you can do to get a millisecond of playback out of it.

    The message I'm getting is:

"You are running out of CPU power. Remove some RTAS plug-ins or increase the CPU Usage Limit in the Playback Engine dialog. (-9128)"

I'm not a Mac user, but can you turn off one of your processors? Reaktor's never really been dual processor friendly...
Try that and see what happens...

I can disable one of the processors for RTAS plugins in the Protools preferences however this doesn't seem to have any effect on the problem with Reaktor.

5.1 No Good with new synths here as well.
    Classic ensembles seem to work.

    Clean install of Reaktor5 / update 5.1
•(Reaktor5.dpm & Raktor5.mopi) in the digi PI folder.(as installed NG)
    • added back the Reakto5 PI with the above (version 1.1.1) NG
    • Took out the Reaktor5.mopi element- and the older reaktor 5 PI
Leaving the Reaktor5.dpm only- Now it (2-OSC) works with the 1024 buffer!
    (Mono 8 vox)
Buffer to 512 still worked but some stops.

Still some stops so I went to CPU 50% and a buffer of 512 with considerably fewer stops.
I could actually record a bit.

Now I did a system restart. Reaktor came back inconsistent. Back to stopping after a few notes played.
The above was tested on an instrument track only.

Standalone / core audio works fine.

    G5 dual 2.7 OS 10.4.3, 6GB Apple Ram.
    PT's 7.1cs2 HD3a (44.1KHz, 24 bit)
PB engine buffer 512-1024-2048 same result)
Lowering the synths voice to 1 voice got 2 notes to play before stopping
Lowering CPU 2 processor 50% helped only some times.

Don’t book any Reaktor 5.1 sessions yet.

    PS.
My system also would not update from the updater.
Reaktor needed a clean uninstall – install / update to get working.
This NI-workaround is posted elseware and was apreciated.

For hoots I opened DP 4.6.1 and all worked ok
(MOTU FW 896 I/O) (MAS / audio units)

Just Tested Reaktor 5,1 and PTHAD ACCEL 3 7,1 CS2

Well It's right the Classic Ensamble work fine you should also change pathces on the fly without problems.

    NEW ADDITION

The same mess, completely un-usable after a little you got always the same error...

Hope you could get the way to make all work fine.

    All the best, Eriberto

PS also Groove Box like Massive seems to work until you pressa key on the keyboard the stucks and you can't go on , always the same error window...
