Since buying Komplete I have been unable to use Massive X. When I open Massive X within Logic or Ableton, there are no presets. I have no standalone version of Massive X, which is what one can usually use to solve library issues in their other instruments.
    • The only help file suggests installing the Massive X Demo Factory Library, which I have already tried and it changed nothing.
    • This thread shows Windows support, but there is zero support for Mac users.
    • Yes, both Massive X and its Factory Library are installed to the default locations (/Applications/Native Instruments/ and /Users/Shared/Native Instruments/ respectively), but like I said the standalone Massive X does not exist.
    • I have also tried installing the Factory Library to the User Library location, since that is the only accessible file path in the instrument plugin.
    • Yes, I have tried re-installing, installing from the demo, and re-scanning. Nothing changes when I do any of these things.
Super frustrating to have such poor support. Please help.

The default location for the factory library is /Users/Shared/Massive X Factory Library, not the one you have somehow installed to (and Massive X itself does not go in Applications but in the plugin folders)

Did you install the Massive X Factory Library using Native Access?

Yes there is no Massive X standalone at this time, so not in the Applications folder, it's useless.

I know! But as I said in my post it doesn’t work so I tried installing in the only place that Massive X seems to recognize, the user presets folder. Which also doesn’t work.

As for the Applications folder, I think you misunderstand. I am talking about the standalone application, not the plugin. I know that plugins go in the plugins folder, but every other NI instrument has a standalone version, which goes in the /Applications folder.

Do you have any suggestions for making Massive X actually see the factory library?

Well, not Massive X (yet ?)
Converning the « standalone » application, extract from NI Massive X page :
« MASSIVE X does not currently run in standalone mode.«

Could you post a screen showing what you dropped in the Applications folder ? Could be part of the problem ?

Yes but you know it doesn't have a standalone so the applications folder for now is irrelevant. The factory folder is /Users/Shared/Massive X Factory Library, not sure why you are installing it to a different one, but that is where Native Access should have installed it.

No. I did not drop anything in the Applications folder. Was my original post this unclear? Let me try again.
    • I installed Massive X and its Factory Library via Native Access, which didn’t work. (By “didn’t work” I mean no presets.)
    • Per NI instructions, I tried reverting to version 1.2, which didn’t work, so I went back to the current version.
    • Per NI support instructions, I tried installing the Demo version of the factory library to the default location, which didn’t work.
    • Per NI forum posts, I tried installing the factory library to the default User Presets folder, which didn’t work.
    • Per NI forum posts, I tried rescanning which didn’t work.
    • I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Massive X and its Factory Library (default locations), which didn’t work.

We just followed your first post, trying to understand :
« Yes, both Massive X and its Factory Library are installed to the default locations (/Applications/Native Instruments/ and /Users/Shared/Native Instruments/ respectively),«
If you don’t want to post some some data for help, then ok, but we don’t have magical answers here, or at least me.

Have you tried deleting the database from Massive X ?
To do so, simply delete this folder :
Macintosh HD > Users > your user name > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Massive X
Note: the User Library folder is hidden. To access it, click on Go in the menu bar and press down the Alt key. You'll now find the Library entry in the menu:

Now if you open Massive X in Komplete Kontrol or in your DAW, it should rescan and the presets from the factory library should be available to you.

Thank you for the suggestion, but doing this had no effect. Still no presets.

It is pretty much possible that you are looking (at least in Logic X) at the big preset drop down in the window up left. But the presets in Massiv X are in the center window: Screenshot 2020-11-04 at 10.11.42.png

i had the same problem: Massive X and some ik multimedia plugins were missing presets in ableton (imac, catalina).
Neither ableton nor NI nor IKM told me to look in:
mac seetings / safety / and allow ableton to use the "documents" folder.
weird enough, other plugins' presets were found in "documents".
as soon as i checked this box, not only the presets were found, but Massive X also did not crash ableton no longer!

Has anyone discovered the solution? I as well do not have the Massive X application in my Native Instruments folder located in applications, but all my other programs have standalone application icons. (I am also on Catalina 10.15.2)

Hi Richie, did you try the suggestion from cobratime above? On Catalina, we've had reports of it being related to permissions for the DAW. Massive X does not have a standalone application, only plugins, so you need to use it in a DAW.
