You may think it's a good thing but then you & NI really don't care what established studios are using. Not everyone wants to or needs to get a new computer just to run some vi. Serum & Falcon run just fine without AVX cpu's.

They would run even better with AVX optimizations. For example, Synapse Audio The Legend is using AVX to enable 4 voice polyphony for the price of calculating one voice.

Also it's not cool to respond to what was edited out of the post (in good faith and to reduce the snark from my side), so bear the consequences.

You may think it's not cool but I also thought that comment from you wasn't cool either. Bear the consequences? The way this board is being run by you I can't stand it anymore. Only your opinion matters and anyone that hasn't a contrary one doesn't mean anything to you. After all these years I have to say I'm outta here.

Yes, I thought it was not cool either so I edited it out.

Gutted, main reason for upgrading to Komplete Ultimate 12 to get the new Massive, and now it won't work on my 2010 i7 IMac. Its an awesome mac and I'm not going to spend another 2 grand just for massive X.

Hi everyone, my first post. Just on this topic, is there any indication of how cpu intensive massive x will be compared to the original. I know this sort of thing is program complexity dependent, among other factors. But say for roughly like for like sounds.
    Thanks

It's impossible to say until it's released. :D

Fair enough. I just wondered whether the avx optimisations gave any indication.

AVX just means you can do the same operation on 4 different pieces of data in the same time it would take a regular CPU register to process a single piece of data.

This can be very beneficial for DSP.

From the NI MassiveX site FAQ it is unclear how many insert modules in total can be added to the polyphonic area. They talk of three extra oscillators, but does that use up all the slots. Does anyone know?

    Yes, it's 3 insert modules.

Thanks. Doesn't seem many for a "top of the line" new synth. Am I missing the point?

We all might be missing the point, until we actually try it out for ourselves.

True. And I look forward to doing so.

Hello, how did the Xeon work out? I am now looking at possibly upgrading and moving away from OS X to a Win 10 platform. The OS X i7 circa 2010 is showing it's age. I have a chance to get my hands on a free dual Xeon circa 2015 or 2016 with 32gb ram they are discarding at my work. Interested if anyone is running Kontakt or Reaktor on that hardware? How does it perform?
