Hey all! What ways do you guys do master EQing at a venue if there's no outboard processor there? Ideally I'd just have some simple software stage after any and all software and right before the audio output. Any suggestions? Is there a way to do Master EQing in Traktor? Any reliable standalone plugins?

    Thanks in advance!

Master EQing is in my experience not necessary given that Channel EQing gives you finer control. If you don't have the right sound at a per channel level EQing the master is unlikely to improve the situation.

I agree, but I'm mainly talking about something to compensate for a venue's acoustics. Almost every club or bar PA system I've heard has been way too boomy in the low mids / upper lows.

    Any ideas?

You might be best off just carrying an outboard graphic or parametric EQ with you for this purpose.

Or, if you're determined to solve the actual problem, a couple vans full of acoustic-treatment materials you can bring to gigs with you. :)

It's kind of amazing that so many club/bar/venue owners seem to have so little awareness of how important acoustics is in terms of how good (or bad) their sound system will perform.

I'd like Traktor "master EQing" too because I like to think of the channel EQs as being only used to make adjustments to individual tracks and normally set flat at all venues. It simplifies the thinking. However this would be another feature that adds to "software bloat".

The master EQing can usually be done externally since just about every place has a mixer you feed into that has the controls. Some small mixers that could be bought for a person's own parties also have master EQing such as this Mackie DFX-6 that has 5 bands.

I notice from other forums that most audio people really like those multi-band EQ boxes with 31 channels or so.
