hi guys i have installed the 1.6.2 upgrade earlier today an i loaded up the all for the love project and the cpu usage meter keeps jumping up to the red and im getting crackles, and pops , now with that being said my studio PC consists of the following:

    AMD Phenom X6 1055
    8GB of G skill 1333mhz ram
    GigaByte 870A-UD3 Mobo
    Radeon 4650
    OCZ 600w psu
    WD 500GB hdd
    Win 7 Ultimate X-64
    M-audio Fast track Pro

now when i open the task manager it shows my Cpu usage never going over 16% percent and my memory usage never Jumps over 25% usage

the questions i have for you gurus out there are
    1. is my latency (128 samples) and my sample rate(96Khz) too high for my Ftp?
2.is machine able to use more than one Cpu core?
3.is it just this particular track has too much going on in it for my hardware?

i hope i have given you gurus out there enough info to help me figure this out and i look forward to a response no matter what it may be

    Thanks in advance

    Sbeezy

PS im sorry i have posted this in the main forum could a Mod please move this to the appropriate place for me? thanks

PSS Okay guys i have lowered my sample rate down to 48khz and that has stopped the high usage but what i dont understand now is if my FTP cant handle 88,96Khz resolutions why are they there?

I have got the same problem. i upgraded Maschine to 1.6.2 and now my cpu is reaching almost the upper end when opening older projects.

edit: false alarm. had my energy settings at "minimal energy usage", shame on me ;)

@ sbeezy: maschine only uses a single core.

Yo, what do you mean by "energy settings"? Is this a MASCHINE setting or something to do with you PC/MAC....I found the CPU meter is maxing a lot more with 1.6.2 also. :(

I think he either means his computer's power save settings or he was referring to himself because his original response before editing was a lazy one. :p
I don't know what the original comment was though, so the latter suggestions is pure speculation.

And is it "maxing" a lot more with identical projects to before? Or do you mean it's straining more from using plugins?

I am on a MBP 2.66GHz with 8 gb ram and two cores. When i open old projects that had absolutelly no problems with CPU usage (a max of 20%) are now going up and over 70%.
Yesterday i started a new project and within this I soon encountered problems with the CPU and especially when introducing Maschine as a VST.
I never had difficulties with CPU before so this has to do something with the update of Maschine.

My CPU also seems to be maxing out faster since I updated yesterday. What is the multi-CPU version? When is it happening?

My cpu meter is maxing as well after the upgrade, especially after loading vsts.. I dont have the greatest computer in the world, but thinking of all the stuff i have done in logic with plug-ins after plug-ins etc, it shouldnt be a big problem with my 2.2duacore/4gb ram macbook pro. Logic should be a little bit more heavy software as well, or so i thought...
Posting to put focus on the problem, no solution from me guys..

I think (and hope) awol9000 was just joking and being not-a-little-bit satirical, as it's usually the Mac users who suggest switching.

However, he might just have been in a trolly mood. :p

    Anyway...

I think everyone will see issues of CPU if they push Maschine with plugins too much due to the lack of multicore support.

And I think this is the issue here when comparing Logic to Maschine. I see your logic (no pun intended) for thinking that Logic would be a heavier load but I think it all depends what you're doing really. And with the multicore support issue, you can't really compare the two for plugin use.
Well, you can. You can compare anything. But not necessarily fairly.

I usually set my buffer size to 512 samples and that seems to work fine for me, right now Maschine doesn't handle multicore processing so you will only be able to use a few plugins at a time (for me 10-14 plugins).

Yes, i guess you are right about that. In logic im running quite a lot... a lot.. in the same projects. In my first project in machine 1.6.2 im running only a small fraction of my usuall setup, just Reactor (Mouth), Kore player, mono/poly, pluss a bunch of maschine library samples. But my CPU is still maxing out in Maschine, and i can hear that the fan is working as if its life was depending on it!

Anybody knows if they are planning a update to multicore in the near future?

I don't think anyone ever knows stuff like that. Apart from NI developers and other NI people in the know.

I would hope, imagine and purely speculate that they will soon and it will be (one of the) next on their list...

last q&a they said it would be on there list. i hope it's sooner, although i updated and with 3.6 ghz it's running pretty damn good. I run 7 VST plugs, Reaktor, Kore Player, several Maschine fx and a Drumkit with 14 sounds at 24 bit 48 khz with 256 latency. Cpu load is 66-72 %.

    Hi,

I am having the same problem...I've read a lot about it here on the forum and I can only put it down to Maschine not supporting multicore. Has it been confirmed, yet?

I am preparing a live set and it would be ideal to use M within Live, however I just cannot risk it. Without Maschine the CPU level hoovers around 20-30% max with plenty of channels and Max effects. I can easily run Live at really low buffer settings. When I load Maschine with 6 kits and no send FX or anything fancy (or rather necessary) I get CPU spikes over 75-80% and live lags, jumps, cracks etc....

I have found a way around it and use Maschine as standalone with 512 buffer settings via Soundflower routed back to Live. It cases about 56ms lag but luckily it can be dealt with.

Anyhow, it works fine and no sign of the computer suffering, so I don't understand why can this be done within the DAW? I feel it's a basic requirement and I shouldn't have to do all this to enjoy all the beauty Maschine has to offer.

Running on MBP 2.6 Ghz, 8Gig Ram, MBox Pro 2 Soundcard - this should really be powerful enough to cope with it.

Any advice or plans to make it work?:S
