If you're expecting to see these MIDI files show up in the MASCHINE library, yes, you are wasting your time. However, you should be able to use them by dragging and dropping them to a Sound (for melodic content) or Groups (for drum content).

How do you place the chord when dragging please?
If I drag a chord to a sound in a group, in keyboard mode the mouse cursor just shows a "+ Copy" prompt and if I let go of the left mouse button it replaces anything already in the pattern.

Is is possible to achieve the drag and drop behavior shown in this video within Maschine?

Maschine replaces any existing events/midi when loading to a sound or group as explained in Section 11.8.3 (page 580) of the Maschine MK3 Manual.

What I usually do is set up a blank pattern that I use to load the midi, then I select all events, cut them and then paste into the midi pattern I am working on.
